Electric Fencing HELP!!!

I am wanting to run an electric fence 'gate' through my electric fencing which is used with the plastic 5 foot posts. I have been advised to put a wooden post in so I can screw an insulator in. The problem is I only want it as a temporary measure. SO my question is how do I run a one or two strand 'gate' which can be electric and easy to open and close. I do not want to be moving the poly posts. Thank you in advance.....

Easy, just put a handle on a length of electro rope or tape and attach it to the plastic post so it is not getting any current. Make a loop with a short piece of tape or rope which is getting the current and you have something to hook the handle onto and the length os live.
The reason for not having the gate powered when unlatched is that you can just drop it down and it will not be shorting out. You will also find that one length is enough.

I'm having a complete blonde day.... Right I'll buy a handle thing and attach that to the end of the tape. Then if I make a loop out of a piece of electric tape then the metal hook on the handle sitting on the loop will make it all electric? I am slightly worried that this will affect the tension buy if it's only for a month or so surely it will be ok. Cannot think straight today so please excuse my lack of brain and I have lost the love due to the clock change!

It might effect the tension when the gate is down so, cut the end that the 'hinge' will be leaving a few inches to knot it so when the handle is down the tape does not drop down. Dittp with the loop end, just tie it back so that it does not slacken off.
Being on temporary posts it will slacken a little because the posts will give a bit but when the handle is fastened then it will all tighten up again.
As soon as the handle is attached the gate will be electrified.
What I have found is that if the gate remains electrified when down and ticking it makes some horses frightened to go through it and it will drain your battery or put up your electric bill if on the mains!
