What is the best rope to buy?

I need thin rope to stop them eating the post and rail. Then I need thicker rope to divide the field.

First question - what makes are good.
Second question - how thick would each be.

Thanks

min 6mm rope. also check how many wires are in the rope the more you have the better the conductivity is. the really cheap electric rope is false economy as it doesnt last. try rutland, or henderson (was agrifence), or rampart. all decent quality

Poly wire is thinner and contains thinner strands of wire. It does not last as long as poly rope, but it does have an advantage in that it will snap! If a wayward horse runs through it. Poly rope is ideal in windy areas, where it can withstand whipping or for paddocks with wooden posts. I find poly posts are not as good for rope, it needs strong posts and good insulators, but will reward you with long lasting protection for your stock. Go for Rutland, Hotline, Gallagher or Horizont rope and ensure you buy rope with plenty of metal conductors.

Thanks. All ordered now. Just got to put it up.

Can you believe someone stole the last lot - went up the field and no fencing some ******* had taken it all down and nicked it.
