Has anyone got any ideas on how to tackle this issue? My electric fencing was stolen. I read a post the other day by someone in a similar situation but cant find it again.
I'm worried that when I replace it, they are just going to steal it again! Any ideas please?

The only thing you can do is mark all your posts but short of concreting them into the ground (which totally defeats the purpose...

) I don't think there's much else you can do. Bloody annoying though!

I've put mine and the battery in the barn which is locked, run the crocodile clips through a small hole in the wall and connected them to a tape that feeds the whole field.

Okay so they might still burgle the barn but at least they can't now just pick it up and walk off with it. I've also smothered it with my postcode in permanent marker so if anyone gets offered it for sale and buys it, shame on them!

We had our energiser nicked. What we do now is to put the energiser in a steel box and padlock the box shut and then chain the whole thing to the nearest immovable object. We also marked all of our plastic posts with paint. So far, so good

put in a steel box and also before you do, paint on it 'stolen from' and then your postcode/address in big painted letters....Also the little bug type energisers tho they dont do as much arent as noticeable as the big expensive ones.

This is a real pain.and people so greedy and dishonest etc that they will put horses at risk simply to make a quick few quid!!

We had this once where there was a footpath going through the field. I put a sign on the gate..beware of adders. Didn't have any more fencing stuff nicked and it stopped the ramblers too.

I think the idea of the ''stolen from...'' thing is awesome! Is the fence live when they steal it? I got a shock whilst using electric fencing for the first few months

I agree some sort of warning sign might put people off. Different situation but I had a lot of feed going missing out of my bins. Put a note inside simply saying 'keep your effing thieving hands off' - needless to say no one except the 'theif' saw it and fingers crossed none has gone since

you can buy a security box for the energiser which becomes live when you lock it with a special key!!!

What are adders??? Snakes i'm thinking, but why would you have them roaming round your field???

Anyway we had one of out energisers taken, someone must have jumped over the motorway fence and taken it. It was bright yellow though (why do they make them in such bright colours) We'll we bought another one and I painted it black so its less visable and its hidden behind a bucket and a tree.
