Electric fencing

I am thinking of using this when I finally get my horse. Some of my fields are post and rail and some is unsuitable wire fencing. The electric would go in front of the wire. It would basically be permenant until I can afford to get the whole lot P & R. Was wondering if anyone has any pics of their permenant electric fencing please? How much to fence an acre approx? Thanks for any help

I was at a yard once and there was permanent leccy fencing.

There was the usual posts, but there was the screw in leccy tape thingys threaded with the tape instead of the rails.

Worked a treat, just be careful when leading a horse through the leccy 'gate' as they think they are going to get zapped and tend to rush through.

Have no idea how much it cost - sorry.

We use it -buy posts in bulk posts 4-5 strides apart posts tend to be £2.00 -screw in tape holders the thick ones which hold the electric rope are the best IMO the flat ones tend to break as tape blows more in the wind and as it become slack it breaks the holders -poly rope doesnt tend to become slack. We have big paddock and then split with tape and posts ie plastic moveable if nes. In terms of gates you can get bungy ones ie electric elastic or the spring gate (we have springs so much eaiser) or retractable (like dog lead) and fit theese onto your posts and connect up to the circuit. Best place ive seen to get theese supplies is on Ebay -paddock perfection are good and if you call them they will sort out everything you need. I got a cattle energiser from them a while ago kept the barts at bay after their busting out escapades.

After yoiu bash posts in first time (easiest in spring or when ground bit wet) need to re bash if ground driues up and they can get wobbly so just make sure you check every so often.(esp if posts are helped on the way to wobblyness by a helpful equine friend!)

Another vote for Paddock Perfection! We use wooden 2" posts about 12' apart with screw in connectors as baby is very handy at pulling up posts to escape. Double row of 40mm tape connected to the mains - sorted!
