I would like to erect semi permanent paddock fencing to create 19 separate paddocks which would be connected to the mains. Materials ideally would be 3" wooden posts and 40mm quality fencing tape. Area is approx 12 acres.
Any ideas on how best to do this and at a reasonable cost?

Personally I would contact a supplier direct - this way they will give you best advise on their product including efficiencies etc .........they would probably give you a quote too to save guessing costs.

Go for the 'pencil' posts rather than 3" to save money, they are around £1 each, and don't have them too far apart, we found rope to be far more effective but it is expensive in comparison to tape. Horse paddocks will probably cope with 2 strands, if you have houdini ponies then they may need 3. Buy a good energiser, ours does 36km, this would be sufficient for your area and invest in plenty of 1m earth stakes to ensure a good output at the fence, we have 5 plus a 1/2m one. I use galvanised wire to connect from fence line to fence line rather than the 'proper' connectors, very effective and cheap! Paddock Perfection on Ebay are brilliant and will give you loads of advice.
