Can anyone tell me if a yard owner is charged extra rates for strip grazing a field if the horses need to because some are lamanitic. As a Bhs welfare rep I would have thought no because it’s temporary moving every day and a welfare issue.

Perhaps are they charging for services? ie moving the fence line? I can’t imagine any other reason.

Sorry new to this, they have been told if they strip graze they have to pay extra as classed as two fields

That sounds frankly bonkers. I wouldn’t be expecting to be charged for two fields because of needing to strip graze.

Never experienced this.
I can imagine a YO maybe charging more livery for someone to use a paddock/field in a way different to what they as yard owner would prefer, but business rates shouldn't be affected.

ETA I can see I misunderstood the question. The YO is not charged extra rates but they can charge their liveries whatever they like. Very odd, however, if it's the same paddock to charge more to a livery wanting to split it in half. I feel there might be more to this story, or else totally bonkers YO. Both seem equally likely!

I just can’t imagine that can be true. They are not suddenly acquiring extra land, it’s the same amount of land, same amount of equines.
