Electric tape or electric rope?

Tape, electric rope has a far higher breaking strain and can cause horrendous injuries. That said I do have some rope on the post and rail perimeter fence.

Never use rope for a temporary fence , the rope is too heavy for plastic posts. It also doesn't break, I had some attached to wooden posts and the posts broke but not the rope and I had a pony running around with four broken posts and three lines of fencing, luckily he was not injured.
I do use rope for a perimeter fence, its on a big mains energiser and very taught, if they went through this if would be the same as going through a solid fence.

2 strands of wide tape on wooden posts with insulators. After stoopid TB managed to tangle himself in rope whilst rolling too near to the fence a few years ago & gave himself horrendous injuries I redid all my fields with tape - more visible (probably because it DOES flap in the wind slightly so horses give it a wider berth).

I think tape looks a lot smarter as long as it is retensioned regularly but that's all part of field maintenance imo.
