I have just bought a new car with a tow bar, so today I hitched it up to give it a trial run. Everything went fine until I tried to plug the connector from my trailer to the car and it wouldn't fit! There are two to choose from but they are too small. A few friends have borrowed the trailer and they've had no problems so it must be the car. I thought they would be a standard size, is this not the case?

i've never come across different sizes and we've had a few cars /caravans/ trailers etc. the black connector on the car is the one you use for towing lights, the grey is for the inner electrics on a caravan. do you have a friendly mechanic you could ask to take a look?

I've solved the problem! The metal casing on my trailer connection was slightly warped so when I hammered it to a better shape I got it to fit. I'm so relieved because I thought I was going to have to cancel my show on sunday which is the first ever outing with the new boy.
