Does anyone know if electrolytes are ok to feed when horse has previously had laminitis .??? Brought some yest and noticed they contain dextrose and some sugars .
The purpose of electrolytes is to replace sugars & salts lost usually during hard exercise or illness. I would not use them for a lami prone unless the level of work determines it, but I guess it would depend on when & how often the lami strikes. Your vet would advise you if it is necessary to feed them on occasion.
I would only feed it straight after the horse has done some hard work so the sugars/dextrose are taken straight into the muscles and not sat in the hind gut for too long..
