As title really! I want to take my horse to his first elementary in a few weeks and this is the one that's available, but I haven't managed to get hold of the test yet. Can anyone give me an idea of what movements it involves. (Particularly if it involves canter to walk as we are awfull at this!) I think he should be ok with most things, just want to check before I enter! Thanks :D

Hi

Elementary 50 has 10 and 20m trot circles, walk to canter, 10m canter circles, two half 10m circles (across the school frm e to b) in canter with simple change over centre line on both reins and a 20m circle in canter stretch. Also the usual medium walk trot and canter.
Hope that helps :)

Brilliant thanks Bunty baby! Hmm, now I'm not so sure if I should enter, I know we will struggle abit with the half 10m circle in canter then simple change onto other half 10m circle, as my horse gets a bit strong in canter and bringing him directly back to walk can be hard! Though if I do enter it will give me good reason to really work on this. Will have a think and go do some intensive schooling tomorrow.

Its also in a 20 x 40 arena, and you need to go from medium canter up the long side to collected for a 10m canter circle at the end of the long side ie FM medium canter, M collected canter and 10m circle......so I'd say you need to have a fair amount of control ;)
I'm not a great fan of this test, but then I'm not a fan of short arena tests!!

i don't like this test, unless your horse is really balanced the medium canter to 10 m circle is really hard.
