Psyching myself up for my 1st Elementary - any tips on riding this one?! Am not 100% on my collected work and simple changes yet but want to bite the bullet and have a go!
Thanks in advance for any advice or confidence building tips!!

Remember collection is'nt slowing down!! its enough collection if you can ride the movements of this test with rhythm and balance!!
Be clear with the transitions and keep the test fluent. Use your corners as your friend do not avoid them like they are your ememy. They can help you engage and set up the horse for the movements.
As for the simple changes , again think fluency keep the hindlegs wanting to activate to the hand and try not to let the poll drop during theses transitions.
Good luck.

i recently rode this for the first time, there is alot of collected canter work , i lost marks for my collected canter being a bit flat / not enough jump even though in was balanced enough to perform the movements without any great loss of balance or rhythm

i also scored a 4 for one of the simple changes from half 10m circles for my horse being a bit against the hand & i did not establish a clear rythmic walk

the trot parts were good , mostly 7's for showing a good trot & good transitions within the gait

all in all i consider it to be a good test to pick up marks in the trot work if your horse has decent medium & collected within the pace but if the horses collected canter is still not great there is alot of it so plenty potential to let the good trot marks slip away with the lost canter marks to result in a very avaerge score

Thanks for the tips - I will give it my best shot! Just wanted a bit of a challenge and my mare is usually better when there is more going on for her to think about. Agree partoow re the corners .. as its a 40x20 will need all the space I can get! Also like the simple change tips - will get a couple of practices in if this weather eases off!
