Has anybody used this? Apparently it is similar to Bliss? Any opinions....
Apologies, this should have gone in stable yard!
Thanks,
M

as far as i know bliss is straw based whilst elephant grass is chopped bamboo. someone at the yard uses it and her bed always looks dirty.

I use it and it's great. I have rubber mats and still put in a 'proper' bed, no need to, that's just me.

I deep litter and clear out once a year. It 'sits better than shavings and isn't as absorbant as aubiouse, but a lot cheaper.

It also degrades well.

We used to use it, until they didn't supply it to our area any more, it's very good stuff and brilliant for messy horses (I found) as the poo almost sinks in a bit and sits there, fairly expensive but i'd say worth it

HUH!? I think it's bloody awful stuff! We use it at work and i hate it with a passion. it has no absorbancy and gets stuck in the cobbles (thats kinda specific to us but i'm ranting) there its used in small amounts on top of matting, more to stop splash than anything. Only reason we've stuck with it is becuase head gardener had a hissy fit about shavings not rotting down quick enough.

One of the the other grooms thought he'd give it a go with his TB mare at home on a deep bed as he thought it was perhaps the way we used it but he had to change it after two days as it gave her sore soles!

I think I've changed my mind about 3 times today as to whether I want to give this stuff a go! I've got a fairly messy horse and I'm moving yards and new stable will have rubber matting, but I will be having a normal bed not a tiny little bed!
