Elevator/comfort bridles

or just Elevator style bridles - any experiences? I can't really afford the original Elevator one, so was wondering if the comfort style similar (Heritage, Rhinegold etc) ones are any good.

Thanks! Any info, positive or negative, much appreciated!
 
Heritage and Rhinegold are Ok IMO. Be aware though that the Heritage ones do tend to come up on the large side. Have to say though I didnt notice any difference at all in my horses way of going using either the "proper" elevator or a cheaper copy.
 
From friends' experiences and scrutinising them closely, keep hold of your money and go for the Heritage. Two of my buddies bought Elevators and found they stretch terribly plus the dye ran in the rain. I know some people love em but I think it's daylight robbery at those prices whereas I've heard nothing but good stuff about the Heritage bridles

My Elevator bridle hasn't stretched or the dye run, it still looks brand new after two years use. Cheaper leather often takes a little while to bed in but can be just as good and long lasting, just looks dirtier quicker for some reason! If your horse needs the comfort then maybe you should buy the real deal??
 
Would disagree that the real deal is better for comfort. I had a Heritage comfort bridle and it was beautiful and soft after a first treatment of leather dressing plus on comparison with a real elevator the leather was better!
 
I think that the Elevators will stretch if you oil them, but the instructions say not to, but just to use leather conditioner. I've only had mine 3 months but I am really pleased with it.
 
I've had an elevater for 4 years and its fine, the leather is lovely and soft and has'nt run or stretched. I also bought a heritage to use as a everyday bridle, it is still hard and I've had it for 2 years, I must say after using it for a while I went back to elevator. Im now using the heritage to mouth my 2 year old in.

I love my Heritage bridle super value for money and a great every day bridle. Good quality leather work and even after a muddy hack looks good.

I posted about this before. I have a Heritage bridle and it's fine! It was a bit 'stiff' to start with but after a good oiling the leather is now really soft and supple, I have also had several comments on how nice it is and people think it's a much more expensive bridle.

i was lucky and bought it off a friend, brand new for £30. I saw an Albion comfort bridle a little while ago in a tack shop and it was fantastic, if I had the money I would get one of those!! The Heritage has been fine though and has lasted really well for 2.5 years. I have a full but even though my horse has a big head the cheek pieces are a bit too long so could prob do with cob size cheek pieces, but the rest fits him well, but yes I would agree they do come up big!

Oh and as for how he goes in it? I haven't had an Elevator so couldn't tell if he would go better in that or not and his last 'normal' bridle I only had on him a short amount of time.
 
I got a new Gallop comfort bridle from E Bay for about £25 inc postage, cos I wanted to try the 'elevator' concept without paying the full price until I was confident that it worked. I haven't needed to buy a 'proper' one yet - my Gallop has been used every day for 3 years & it's still fine.

It did make a phenomenal difference to Cat's way of going - he was far less busy in his head & easier to ride.
