Elimination after rider fall

[ QUOTE ]
So very well said SpottedCat. There will always be idiots on the planet and, quite frankly, all the rules and regulations in the world won't make them safe. quote

if only it was a cut and dried as that but, there is clearly a problem and i think for all concerned, is best to E and come out fighting another day!!! Dont think the problems are just with 'idiots', can be just circumstance IMO,, it can only be a good thing for horse and rider saftey!!!

But TBH I dont see much point in carrying on after you've fallen off anyway - you've got 65 penalties so you're not in with a chance of being placed! The only time I think it could be a problem would be in team competitions where they want to complete.

Well i fell off yesterday xc at stonar and fell on my feet - i would have been annoyed if i hadnt have been allowed to have continued!

" In the warmup it will not count.."

Just to pick up on your point about falling in the warm up not counting...
You can't have your cake and eat it - it is just as easy to be injured in the warmup arena as out on the course proper, and for a rider to make the 'wrong' decision and go XC. It has to be one or the other, either left the way it is at the moment, or any faller (even in the SJ warmup for example) having to be checked out by a paramedic who decides if they are fit to continue.

I still think that as riders we should be credited with enough sense/intelligence to know after a fall whether we are competent to carry on based on the individual circumstances, and do not need 'saved' from ourselves!!!

Look how many 'easy' falls there were at Badminton and the riders remounted and carried on. One is Heidi Woodhead and The Biz, who have been picked for the Aachen team next week.

I accept that with 65 pen awarded for a fall noone is going to be winning any rosettes that day, but a it could benefit a young horse's confidence to continue on round the course (perhaps only for a couple of fences) if the rider is capable and unhurt.
