Dear Ellie has coped well after losing Flick, my old livery that was put down recently but I have been keeping my ears open looking for a companion for her because I don't like youngsters to be kept alone; it's very un-natural for them - and yes, that was my long held belief (as a breeder for nearly 30 years) before I had someone having a go at me on an earlier thread when I said Flick had been put down ad Ellie would be on her own for a while.
Anyway, the best news is that Dotty, a mare I bred twenty years ago has been retired from breeding duties at Embla Stud where she had been for the last ten years so was able to come home yesterday and they are already matey - it was a bit of a non-event really as you can tell by the pic'. Lovely to have my old girl back and watching Ellie realise that Dotty is already boss - and the same colour too, bonus!
