I wake up every morning dreading going down to the field, afraid of what I might find, but so far so good and the worry has been for nowt.

Ellie’s minor wounds are nicely scabbed over, are clean and dry and giving no cause for concern.

The puncture wounds in her offside hind that gave the most concern are also clean and dry and scabbed over nicely. Her leg is still swollen but there is no heat in it and she isn’t lame. It is tender to touch but that is understandable.

Ellie is also her usual grumpy self, so that is a good sign too
, lol
I think that if we can get to Sunday/Monday with no signs of infection we might be over the worst and on the way to a (hopefully) full recovery. Finger crossed!

Oh, I reported the dog attack to the Dog Warden and the Police, who were less than helpful. The police actually asked me what I expected them to do about it! I told them that last time I looked there was a Dangerous Dogs Act in this country that is enforceable by law. The most helpful were the local vets who actually trawled through the records while I was on the phone to see if any dog had been brought in with injuries that could have been caused by a horse. There was nothing unfortunately, so it looks as if we will never find the culprit.

Thank you all so much for your vibes and well wishes on my initial post, you are all wonderful and the vibes appear to be doing their stuff

Great news.

You really do despair of the police at times.

Lots more vibes coming for your girl's recovery. ((((((((((((((((()))))))))))))))))))))))))

Fingers and hooves are crossed for you all(((((healing vibes )))))))))).

So sorry that you got no result with the police but at least they will have it on record. What about your local paper story about Ellie?

Not surprised about the police to be honest. I was riding my mare when a dog attacked her, ripped all her boots into shreds and left me with a £110 vet bill. The police refused to even take my name and address. I asked them would they have taken any more notice if it had been a child on a little pony (would have had its throat ripped out probably) instead of an adult with 30 years experience and they put the phone down on me.

I'm getting quite cross about the fact that no one seems interested in these dog attacks.

I am not one to court attention (really!) and was loathe to contact the local paper but I am now seriously considering it, if only to bring it to the attention of the general public.

Go for it sometimes you have to make a stand!!!

lots of ((((healing vibes))))) for Ellie, hope she continues to improve!!!

I'm disgusted by the police! If it had been a child, the child would probably have not survived such a vicious attack!!!

Put it in the paper, at least it makes people aware that there is a very irresponsible dog owner, and a very nasty dog on the loose!!!

ETS - if it kills the farmer's sheep, that would be different now, wouldn't it?!!!!

Report it to the paper and also to the BHS. That's assuming they're still gathering evidence on the increase with regards to dog attacks?

Hardly surprised by the police reaction. It's the second example of their apathy that I've seen today.
