Oh my goodness that is terrible, you must be shattered with all the stress and anger, your poor horse, I hope she recovers well and huge huge (((hugs))) for you both.
Is there any way of finding out whose dog caused this, hope there is.

If it was a dog, be warned, as it may return to 'play' if it wasn't injured....

Poor Ellie, what a stressful thing to have to endure at her age.
Fingers crossed for her speedy recovery, and fingers crossed you find the mutt responsible and its owners cough up your vets bills!

Sending you huge vibes - sometimes these oldies can be super tough. My TB at 28 did herself an horrific injury - she too had to be kept out, too old for box rest, had anti-bs, and the wound was left open but covered with various potions.

She recovered and came back into work.

Let's hope Ellie is made of the same stuff as my old Breeze.

Hope you find the dog and shoot it.
