Since we got Jack he's always had a yellowy green crust on the end of his winky. The vet looked at his 10 week jabs and said it was just urine trapped in the hair on the end of it, so on vets advice i trimmed the hair off.

He still had the crust when we went for a worming appointment at 14 weeks, and vet said not to worry.

He;s still got it now, even though he cleans down there himself.

This week we've had a bitch to stay and he's had lots of fun trying to mount her (she doesnt mind and is out of season).

But i've noticed he doesnt actually get 'it' out

In fact, I've never ever seen his pinkie.

Is that normal for his age? My dad's had gundogs for years, and terriers too, and says he's never really taken much notice. The areas not swollen, but I am starting to get concerned incase he CAN'T get it out? Is that possible or is it too early to tell?

We havent got vets again for another month (castration) and 'm wondering wether to take him back before then to ask, or will I make myself look a right numpty?

My boy gets the grren gunk but he does clean it away and he does 'get it out'......not sure what to suggest really, if hes peeing normally then i would prob wait until he goes in for his op.

eughh. seriously though, have you tried cleaning it for him - maybe shower / bath him and do it at the same time ?

No harm in a check-up.

When my boy was a puppy he could get it out but not retract it so he had to have part of his sheath removed.
I do have to clean him occassionally because it is exposed most of the time and it makes him vulnerable to infection.
