Embarrassing falls

bowdown.gif
oh alright you win  lmfao

event rider you really have to post the link now :D

I had a pretty spectacular fall at a 3 day a few years back which was shown several times on Sky Sports and repeatedly to this day on Horse and Country.

Even better...Someone has since posted it on youtube and it now has over 100,000 hits - it doesn't get much more public than that!

But before you judge me too harshly look at the hedge, That is a 9 ft drop.:D Oh and look closely where my darling horse Lancelot puts his feet :D

 I could not even look too closely at those!! Don't you sometimes wish there weren't cameras everywehere ...! Or do you have the montage of pics on your wall?!

You are so right. I had no idea how close it came. The photos scared me to death. I do remember congratulating myself as I hit the deck that I wasnt under him, and then thinking "oh god no I,m not " as his hoof went over my face,.Thing is that if you get up and walk away you dont realise the "what if,s"Photos are a bad thing for ones confidence.

still cant believe you jumped that hedge - it is mahoooooosive!!! one hell of a drop and then bowl on down a massive hill. officially mad. wonder if Bob is up to trying that one?

Bob the (not a) cob is certifiably insane and as you well know did considerably worse to scare me not so long ago!Fortunately there were no cameramen to record it because no one would have been that stupid/desperate to jump that hedge there. For the uninitiated, visualise "the Chair" back to back with "Canal turn". F+++ Me !!!!!!!!:eek::eek::eek:

at least you stayed on - more than i did on Saturday when confronted with a giant ditch followed by a 90degree turn. i went splat big time. fortunately no photographer. still debating if my wrist is broke or just sprained!

Sprained, Star , you are a ditch tart , stop it . I leave you alone out hunting and you start falling off at every opportunity!I know that you have been pipped to the post for the tumblers cup on numerous occasions, but this is not the way forward!! Sadly Bob and I are sidelined at the moment (both well though!). Star there is somthing about you and ditches . A sort of magnetic attraction !.

a ditch tart! now there's something i haven't been called before. it was such a big ditch most horses went into it and out the other side, but no, mine has to leap the whole thing, land in deep mud and then fling himself 90degrees to the right. grrrrr. that's 2 falls in 6 outings. i had to do the 4th line with one hand on the reins - not much fun! and was wondering where you'd got to??

OH YES

worst one was the first XC at Eland lodge, horse was a bad stopper anyway and it was a light coloured hanging lod (now not first fence)
He refused twice then 3rd time had me off! They even let me have a lead but no way was he going over, so they kindly let us go around and carry on

another refusal in SJ where he suddenly ran out but there was another fence in his was so he shot back again, me on floor. I didn't talk to him for an hour then made him do the bigger class, I don't think he ever jumped better lol

On another horse I was trying out bent iron stirrups, horse shot sideways in canter and I came out the side door, unusual for me, seems I use the outside of my foot to stay in the saddle cos it happened a couple of time with those stirrups but never with normal ones. hence I don't use them anymore

It was quite embarrassing when I was just cantering along on my horse, and next minute I was on the floor. Don't now how it happened!!

Also when I had an SJ lesson on my horse. We was jumping about 1m20, which we had jumped easily before. Somehow that day I managed to fall off 5 times in a 45min lesson. The horse had never stopped before with me at any fence, but he stopped twice that day. One time I landed on top of a triple bar. Spent the next week unable to move.

back when the bsps champs where EoE showground jumping the open 14hh worker in the main ring and fell off straight in the water try, then had to go and jump in my next class and explain why i was soaked lol

Hows this for embrassing just completed prelim 10 at a competition and a bird flew out of tree and my horse spooked. I ended up coming out of the side door headbutting the post and rail and around the ring. I ended up getting carted off to hospital on a spine board. Luckly only had wiplash and what made me laugh even more was the we only went and won

Cross country yesterday!
No idea how horse managed it... after a series of pony club kicks, donkey cat leaped and bolted on landing as I landed on my head, then stood on my foot and trotted off very pleased with herself!

Probably at a Christmas Show a few years ago. The joker fence consisted of a normal jump but with around 5 cardboard presents wrapped in paper which sat just under the pole. Approaching the jump, the breaks slam on and I fly over the pony's head and land on my backside on the box which was now flat. And I was grabbed by a paramedic who wouldn't let me go until he checked me for concussion while pony is galloping about doing a bronco and farting... :o

i have a few :S
one when i was hunting i jumped a ditch and the horse slipped on some tree roots on landing and he fell on top of my leg (i was still sitting like normal just lying sideways on the ground one leg being crushed) horse got up me still sitting there and by suprise to find myself still on the horse with him standing up i slid out the side of the saddle, horse then cantered off to the others left me going my one leg hurts

the other was at pony club camp when my horse was doing a ditch followed by steep hilll up to a 3ftx3ft wavy blue table, first time he did it he catleap the ditch (he had never jumped one before he was 5 it was expected) he then went on up to the wavy blue table and ran out, second time he cat leaped again but took off really early, que me loosing both reins and stirrups, my instructor had not seen me clingling on for dear life was yelling at me to concerntrate him at the table to not to run out me shouting I HAVE NO REINS OR STRRUPS instructor quickly went STOPPPPPPPPP, me no listening jumped it doing a starjump mouth wide open, i belive it was caught on camera but never got the photo :

and a thrid time was this year at my four day rallies when my wonderful 5 year old decided spreads were much more interesting with the rider in the middle of them, the picture was comical
and i have one of him jumping it after 2ft above the top pole, i had lasted 10 minutes into 4 days of rallies it did not look good XD
