Embarrassing problem

I've been lurking on here for a while hoping someone else would miraculously have the same embarrassing problem as me, but alas it appears I'm going to have to bite the bullet.

I've started having riding lessons after about 20 years of happy hacking and am really pleased with how well its all going - however, my instructor is a great one for work without stirrups which while doing wonders for my seat is leaving me with blisters in... ummm....a rather personal place  Does anyone else have this problem? More importantly, how can I solve it? Would padded / "horsey" undies help? any other (polite?!) suggestions?

Apologies for the rather embarrassing first post, when /if I recover from the shame I'll introduce myself properly :o

:D

Someone actually did post about something very similar quite recently so you are not alone! However, I cannot remember the replies. I'll try & find the post - it had many replies if my memory serves me correctly! :D

Someone else had the same problem and there was quite a long thread on it. I remember my suggestion was to wear padded cycle shorts. I'll have a look and see if I can find the thread.

Snap!! Obviously a very memorable thread :)

Hi Judy!

Welcome.... Put it this way: I have 'lesson' knickers, 'hacking' knickers and 'long ride with no respite from trotting' knickers.

Horses for corsets.... And woe betide me if I get them wrong - lots of trotting standing in the stirrups ensues....

So. Padded knicks for lessons, then. Anything's better than trying to discretely 'adjust' while changing reins :D

Pmsl! You aren't the first and won't be the last to post this problem!
Vaseline is apparently good from previous posts experience. I'm sure someone will enlighten you further!
Welcome to the forum! :D

Haven't had this particular problem, but you might find a seatbone saver (Heather Moffett's one is the best I've sat on) helps. Your RI won't mind if you take it along when you go for lessons.

Lol....talk about making an entrance! Nothing like making first impressions last :D
I'm sure there was a thread about this not so long ago. Can't remember what the advice given was, but I'm sure that padded underwear would go some way to helping your "problem" :D
Never suffered with it myself, although I seem to remember riding out in my jogging bottoms once and got rather chaffed in that area :o so going on that basis, more padding down below the better! Jods being thicker an' all :)
Best of luck remedying your problem, hopefully someone on here will have more experience of this and be able to give you better advice.

Welcome to the forum by the way! :D

Horses for corsets....

Brilliant!!

And good to know I'm not the only one with "an uncomfortable front bottom"!! What a way to introduce myself to a forum... *still blushing* Thanks for the suggestions and links to the other post.

I'm now idly flicking through the mountain horse catalogue while mentally sorting knickers into "those for riding", "those for lessons", "those to be avoided at all costs" :o

Thanks again
:D
