New Lad broke his leg in May, at the top of his off-fore. We didn't know, but it was a milimetre from going all the way through. Long story short - got him right over months of box rest.

He was just back into work a few weeks ago. All very gentle and light - fifteen minutes max., etc. He is an ex-racer so it's gentle re-schooling. He's been grand :)

Yesterday evening, panic call from Friend. There was sudden and extreme swelling along the crack line and he was lame and very unhappy. I called by, took coffee and shortbread, saw it and thought Yikes! I was trying to work out how the break could have done anything now when it was healing so well on the last x-rays, but he cut an artery, muscle, etc. as well at the time. I had to go and see my sister in hospital, so wasn't there when our lovely vet came out; just as I was leaving hospital, Friend called - needed to take him to horsepital :(

So, a dash back to the yard, picking up various husbands on the way. But would he load! Took an hour to get him on. It was nearly eleven when we got to the vet's, who were wonderfully cheery and supportive (Thank You!).

No new break :D No fracture at all :D The bit we were worried about breaking away (a large chip) was where it should be and although a slight bump shape along the bone, all was good :D :D :D. Relieved?! So, so pleased :D

They have kept him in overnight, with the aim of scanning him this morning to try and see what the tissue damage is. We are hoping it was just a kick that landed in just the wrong place.

This horse has been through so much in his short life. He's landed with the right owners now :)

Good Lord, we're going to have to call you DrM soon, the amount of time you're spending in human and horse hospitals.

Hope he feels better soon.

Mrs M I hope you had a large hot chocolate!
Horses eh? Your lot are the vets pension fund and holiday villa.
Glad its not as bad as you thought and wish you all well!

Yup . I noticed a few nice cars hanging around the place . We do make them work for it though lol. Maybe it's the odds working as between us we have: seven horses, five dogs, five cats....

Phew! What a worrying time!

I find with my exracer that any slight thing makes her seem like the world has ended!

Glad all is well. Like yours, I think my girl finds the vet sexy and creates any excuse to see him. (me too I might add, but it's expensive perving!) :)

Mrs M your life is too full fo drama!

Hope NL and your sister are on the mend soon x

Hm. Tell me about it . At least the back brace provide a talking point when I'm in other medical places ;). Mechanics especially are interested in the construction lol. One guy at work wanted to take it apart, passing comment on the design and quality :D

NL should be fine ta. Sister, well, fingers crossed and a good following wind.

Mrs M you live the most scary, heart in mouth life. So glad all ok. phew.

You mean one's heart isn't meant to live in one's mouth?!:rolleyes::D

We did have a few weeks where things were sort of normal and on an even keel, so no doubt were due to a little 'entertainment', though most miffed that MacDonalds was closed by the time we made it back there :(.

Rofl - thank you, that made me giggle :D.

This one was nice, and very cheery :D. Though I think the award still goes to the vet that walked in, when NL had torn the top half of his face off his skull, smiling and saying how much he enjoyed a challenge, not breaking a stride as arterial blood shot across his face :cool:. The nurse who obviously liked him, was doing her best, but I have to say that the blob of blood she was wearing as eye make-up was doing her no favours lol.

See my vet was an old Irish chap! Lovely lovely chap and couldn't fault him he was (and still is) the best vet I ever encountered....just well it would be like lusting after your grandpa and a bit wrong when I'm forking out ££££'s.
Think soft, irish grandpa who you just want hug!

Rofl - is it wrong that I find that so funny:

I know the kind you mean :). They seem to be fewer of them on the ground nowadays though.
