So my 14 year old had an EMS diagnosis earlier in year. Got him slimmer and reasonably fit. Qualified him for Pet plans. He then put his leg through a gate and damaged his transverse sesamoidean ligament. The prognosis for which is guarded at best. So he is currently on 4 hours turnout a day in a grazing muzzle. Arc Equine being used every day. Yet to see an improvement. He has to have hoof boots on to turn out as he really struggles with the gravel, yet xrays of feet and scans show no movement of his pedal bone. He seems fairly settled in his routine. However he can bronk and hooley round his stable which doesn't help his ligament injury. His diet is soaked hay, and a mug full of Thunderbrooks Ulsa X to put his vitamins in. The reading I have done would suggest I am on a hiding to nothing hoping he will come sound. My vet was not optimistic The EMS makes him more complicated to manage and I worry about his quality of life. Anyone got any success stories to recount? Currently feel like I am pouring money into a black hole.

My then 19 year old had a lesion on his distal sesamoidian ligament. He had platelet rich plasma therapy and it seemed to work. He also had annular ligament surgery at the same time. He’s 23 now and still lightly hacks.
