Cob looking very Ribby but still with some crest and fat pads on top line. If he looses more weight I might need to provide him with extra calories. Apart from the obvious milled linseed is there anything else? He already gets some non molasses sugar beet and low sugar chaff
 
I think I would like to rule out Cushings, as the redistribution of fat, and poor metabolism is a red flag. How old is he?

If the horse is generally ribby but still has fat pads, I would have a test.

Mine is EMS and when fat he has fat pads. When slimmed right off, they disappeared. He was only borderline cushings but I tested to make sure. He is currently managed diet only, but if fat pads came even when ribby, we'd have to reassess.
