My pony who has always been very forward going seems a bit flat at the moment. He mucks about etc when its windy etc but in the lunge pen/school/hacking he has periods of having to use quite a lot of leg to get him moving forward which is not how he use to be. The vet has suggested to get him tested which I am arranging. Yesterday was a good example - been in all day, clipped the day before very windy - go to the lunge pen as thinking that he is going to do one and he was quiet. Then rode in the school and seemed to get tired quite quickly, although we did have one major spook at something! Any thoughts?

.....or it could be a heart murmur, or strangles, or existential angst; it could be anything! If you're worried, call a vet. Always.

My old mare was exactly the same lost her sparkle completely, I thought it was the end of road for her. She tested positive for Cushings has been on Prascend for about 15 months now and is back to her old self. As others have said get the vet to test and go from there. Good luck.
