All the rescue dogs I’ve had over the years have done a fantastic moult as soon as they’ve come into a home... it is very messy, but usually worth it as they change their ‘kennel coat’ for a sleek shiny coat 😊

I’ve had Ace for a couple of months now and he is refusing to moult 😳 He came from a horrible racing trainer so his coat is awful, I’d love him to be shiny and healthy like my other 3! Any suggestions? I’ve given him a bath & it did help, but he is HUGE to lift into the bath and I don’t want to over do it! He is on Arden Grange chicken and rice, with 25% protein, so I’d rather not change that - I suppose I could add oil or eggs?

Oil. Maggie came to us in December so a really bad time for changing coat. We gave her a bath and started sardines in oil a few times a week. Quickly got a sleek, shiny black greyhound.

I will say though that Lucky is far harder to make shiny with her brindle coat.

lucky you, my collie cross moults all year round and she is white with black splodges, my green carpet doesnt look very green now.....soon changing to a tiled floor so all carpet will be binned...i would like a dog that only moults once a year so i could have a megga hoover up and do less the rest of the year. its hoover daily for me....

I think that’s what I’m also finding difficult lol - Marty (who is black) arrived a few months before Ace, he is sleek well muscled and shiny, he looks amazing 😊😊😊

He and Ace are chalk and cheese as far as confirmation is concerned, Marty is a chunky muscly little soul whereas Ace is a lean, huge fella - you just can’t compare the two, it’s like comparing a cob to a TB 😄

Plush Puppy Seabreeze Oil - I make up a spray bottle with 1tsp oil in warm water, spray on (shaking the bottle up frequently) and brush through the coat.

£26.50 a bottle 😱😱😱😱😂

I am so tight-fisted .....

I did look through the dog cupboard today to try and find the rubber grooming pad I used to have..... seems I’ve thrown it out! I did find 4 lots of metacam and some carprieve mind you 🙄

Our labs only moult twice a year, the first moult lasts 6 months and the second lasts (you guessed it) 6 months, warm showers with much massaging definitely helps to loosen the old coat and pilchards in oil twice a week I think help keep their skin healthy and coat shiny. Pilchards do result in noxious gasses but not runny bums...😷

You really are not missing out.... 😂😂

Baby Shark

Oh, I tapped on the link, my first encounter with Baby Shark. I don't like it. What with The Jaws theme tune at the beginning?? and surely the children should have swum (swam??) away not run away given that they're underwater? The Sharks hovering in the background with cutlery as the children sing "it's the end" is not nice...am I reading too much into this??
