Hi all,

after 6 weeks off my TB is back in work 1st week was maninly walking and trotting on hacks for about 1 hour at a time sometimes longer 2nd weeks longer hacks with some cantering then by weekend just gone we could ahve a 2 hour hack with a few canters longer and we also jumped on the saturday for 20mins.

when we have been hacking half the hack he works correctly on the bit over his back and using him self (feels great) and the other half spent mooching along with neck out and down so he can rest (give and take :))

so wondering what you guys thinks hes looking.... we have the beach this weekend to help get his fitness up!

thanks :)

PS he has his feet done 1 week ago also so they look better :)

His coat looks lovely.

Slow down on the amount of work you're doing with him though - 6 weeks off in reality should mean about 3 weeks walking as a minimum before you start introducing any other work.

thanks amymay i appreciate your advice, ill stick to the hacking jumping was just a test to see where we were at :) he hasnt done any schooling (one because he hates it)

but he goes lovley on a hack. he gets bored walking so do keep it interesting with lateral work and transitions.

TBH hes retained a lot of his fitness if im honest alot more than i though hence going a bit more along with the work load. :)

hes still living out on good grass i think thats helping with his coat and fitness keeps him walking :)

this week im just concentrating on hacking up to an hour :).

thanks

He looks really good, although I have to agree with Amymay in regards to how fast you are builing up his work.
2 hour hacks with cantering isn't what I would be doing in week 2 of being back into work.

hi so its been six weeks since hes been back in work.... and if im going to be honest i didnt really slow him down he could handle it and i was sensible about work load i made sure he wasnt panting or sweating and hes in great shape now and hes never felt better!

we have been jumping 3'9 last weekend and we are on 2 hour fast hacks now and hes coping amazingly andhes not lost weight and hes been clipped.

i just wanted to be honest and let you all no even though i didnt take you advice it suited me and my horse beter :) thanks
