Sadler's Wells and Storm Cat both retired within a couple of days of each other.

Two of the most influential stallions of recent years, I wonder which up and coming sires will manage to reach their heights.
SW was always my favourite, he'll be sorely missed, although hopefully the likes of Montjeu, Galileo et al will carry on the bloodlines.

Giant's Causeway was one of my favourite sons of SC, but he doesn't appear to be getting stock as good as himself, sadly.

Have a happy retirement, boys!

A very sad time indeed - 2 fab horses. I am very lucky yo have a saddlers wells mare who is the spit of him. I hope they both have a very long and happy retirement.

No shes 14 (going on 5) now and never breed before so I don't think its worth the risk. I did concider it last year but she has a slightly dodgey pelvis too (fine with work etc but extra weight of foal etc??). Lovely girly though

SW's sired some lovely mares......the filly Peeping Fawn is out of a SW mare.....she's amazing, and I can't wait to see her run this year.

Could not agree more and Sadler's Wells was one of my all time favourite sires. I also liked Dancing Brave too and would often follow his progeny.
I just hope he gets to live out a long and happy retirement though and that all those coverings over the years have not taken too much of a toll on his health
