I know it's only halfway through Thursday but my weekend begins (early!) tomorrow and I am excited so here's the thread :D

I'm dressage writing at Barbury tomorrow and Saturday morning. Particularly excited this year to be writing for an OI section and I've not written for that level of test before. It's got shoulder in so hoping to see some good examples to help with this in my lessons.

Then a lesson tomorrow afternoon (ready to smash out the best shoulder in ever seen obvs. 😂) - probably working more on 'brain, please, no need to freak out because we're...walking a bit quicker' and some bits of trot. I realised that last week I felt more anxious in 'fast' walk than I did in actual trot. Brains be weird sometimes. 🤷‍♀️ Had sports psych session last night so ready to put that into practice :)

What are we all up to? Hope the weather treats us all reasonably kindly!

My lesson is this evening which always feels like the start of the wind down so timing suits me also!! We had our first little canter at the new yard in the indoor last night so will try and build on that this evening!

Friday and Saturday hacking, maybe hand walking the longer route depending on company/ weather. Working hunter comp on at our new yard on Sunday so will help friend out there. Sadie can watch 😂

The OI secs are filled with some good horses SPD, should be a good one to write for!

Not looking warm and sunny enough for me to head over to Barbury. I’m becoming a fair weather spectator as well as a fair weather rider 😂😂😂😂

Reckon I’ll just do a bit more pony club hooning round the countryside while the ground is perfect then!

And will stick up some fences for the event horse too, and dish out sugar cubes to her.

I looked up the times earlier and saw the first horse in the section is one I actually recognise the name of 😂

I'm pleased I will be in the car (I'm a fair weather volunteer!) and that my bit of riding tomorrow is 45 mins pootling in an arena. Although I do have a few hours to kill before my lesson and have been looking forward to putting my new waterproofs to work :D

The pony club hooning sounds great!

Great to hear you're making progress @Nicnac

Looking good @rara007 !

The hooligan had a light week last week as I was suffering post hospital visit. Promptly bronced me off on Tues then looked down at me (soft landing) with an oh whoops look on his face.

He's got a polework clinic on Sat. It's never a "learning" clinic but it keeps his little brain occupied. Hacking with a friend in Sun but just realised the clocks are changing so will be a bit of an early start 🥱

We cantered CIRCLES in the OUTDOOR. We are unstoppable these days folks!!

Sincerely, shes been in the outdoor once, never in the dark under the lights and was a perfect little sweetie pie. Instructor was saying, just over a year ago she was holding my hand basically as we walked 2 steps at a time down the side of the arena with Sadie trying not to explode and me trying not to sob. What a year it's beeeeeeen.

I have an exciting weekend planned. After taking the boy out in my trailer for the first time ever last weekend (quick spin on Saturday, riding club lesson on Sunday), we are continuing to spread our wings and are off to do our first Quest dressage test. We’re going to a venue we’ve been to before, and doing Intro 2, that I’ve done a few times before.

I had a great lesson yesterday, and I’m really looking forward to it. It feels like we’re getting back on track a bit after a tricky winter.

We were away last weekend, and our first competition is easter weekend so this weekend will be washing and prepping for that. I've been bad and haven't ridden all week due to apathy and rubbish weather, so I need to get back in the saddle. Last weekend highlighted how much work we need to do in order to be competition ready.

Sister and I are heading over to SNEC to help at the arena eventing on Sunday! They were looking for volunteers so thought it might be a fun way to pass a few hours. Must take plenty of layers of clothes though as it's always freezing!

Friend is competing at this. They're going down tonight with their tiny little JR puppy, her 1st away show.

Maybe you'll get to meet her!

Went out for a hack with the hi vis on just in case we felt chilled out enough to attempt the hour long road loop by ourselves and WE DID 🎉🎉

Also got caught in a hailstorm and traffic was terrible but not a problem for the coolest pony in the world! For context it took almost the whole of last summer to get us hacking the 80 min loop at our old yard and it was never this easy!!

You two seem to be on a roll :)

I'm currently on sofa tucked under a duvet ready to fall asleep as I've overdone it a bit but had a good weekend so far. Writing for intermediate at Barbury yesterday was great, although somewhat disappointed to have another 'that horse is lame but we're going to explain it away and not do anything' experience. And it was really unlevel, not just a bit stiff, not tense, really very unlevel. I'm going to write to BE about this because although it doesn't represent the vast majority of riders, when this happens (especially at a level they should definitely know better!) it lets things down.

The weather wasn't great and I was feeling quite fried by the end of my writing so ended up not riding, and had a groundwork lesson instead. Time with Mr Big ID which was lovely and he seemed to have a nice time too.

Then writing again today which was a really fab experience, lots of lovely horses and riding, and a great judge who was happy so share some knowledge with me and watched a bit of SJ together so I learned a bit about that.

Hopefully I will be back in the saddle next week :)

Yesterday had a nice hack with my pal, will do the same tomorrow! I am in a better routine now, horses are doing plenty and all in good form!

I had a very exciting morning as I now have some jumps for the arena 🎉 went to collect them last night, then got the arena harrowed and the jumps built this morning. Had a pop over a couple of tiny crosspoles and was so delighted with myself 😂

I am very rusty but tbf, Ace is super keen so he was happy to look after me, he knows more than I do 😂
