I thought I might copy the government who have done an end of year report! Also added a few competition pictures (all copyright free) in reminiscence of the 2010 season. For a proper review of the events of the 2010 season see my website http://www.shoestringeventing.co.uk/2010-review.htm

Sarnie
Never quite performing to her best, although tried hard despite niggling injuries that perhaps could have recognised sooner. Has frequent diva moments and can be a bit big headed.

Highlights
23rd at Tattersalls CCI** with a good clear cross country around a course that caused carnage.

Lows
The CIC*** at Barbury where she only completed dressage and wasn't quite right behind. Her subsequent loss of jumping prowess when she was diagnosed with a damaged Sacroiliac Joint.

Looking Ahead
After 5 months rehab she is now back in full work so providing her jumping performance has returned we will be aiming at completion in that elusive CIC*** next season.

Ashley
A favourite who always tries hard to please. Perhaps shown the most change over the year from a soft flabby figure to a handsome chap.

Highs
As well as successfully competing in BE100, showing and BS he has excelled at dressage winning 12 out of 15 unaffiliated classes and 4 out of 6 affiliated winning 22 points.

Lows
Having him returned after I sold him to a lady (she turned out to need a brain dead cob and not a forward going gentleman). The threats through a solicitor were unnerving and frustrating when as a genuine seller I was selling a very genuine horse.

Looking Ahead
Hopefully Ash’s future will be in a new home where someone will appreciate him for his lovely manners and great all round ability.

Rosie
Hard to assess as spent more time in the sick bay than actually being ridden. Nice to handle but could be smarter in the appearance, wearing poo stains in the morning is not smart on a grey coat.

Highs
Very few as yet, no pictures even as looking too manky, a early video may give you an idea of why I quite liked her! http://www.youtube.com/user/carnarthen1#p/u/4/NVmXxG3dlPs

Lows
Developing a skin lergy shortly after arrival and then passing it onto Ash. At least the Diva didn’t get it. Now it is better the weather is preventing her being ridden. Was not bought as a stable ornament!

Looking Ahead
Riding her would be good, after getting her a bit fitter some hunting with the aim of BE by mid 2011.

Pippa
An athletic and neat horse for such a big girl. Can get distracted in boring sessions such as dressage and should try and concentrate on what she is doing!

Highs
Showing she has more potential than originally expected with ability to rise up the grades BE.

Lows
Her size(16.3), have tried washing her but she won’t shrink and her owner seems to quite like her the size she is!

Looking Ahead
She will start her BE career at 100 level and hope to progress to Novice sometime during the season

Jockey
Could do better (as always). Has improved the mental side following some NLP brainwashing) sessions, could now work on fitness and flexibility. Has been demonstrated to splat easily when falling off. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VA15bkTtr4w

Highs
I must be ill! - producing Ash to be so successful in his dressage career. Also having the opportunity to ride 4 different horses at BE this year.

Lows
Struggling to find and help Sarnie when she wasn’t quite right and the feeling of helplessness sometimes. Also receiving solicitors letters re Ash when I consider myself a totally honest and straightforward seller.

Looking Ahead
Working to improve my riding and become fitter. Trying to get over my mental issues that count me as a failure if I don’t achieve professional riding standards!

Well i think you and all your horses look fab and wish i could ride half as well.

Hopefully 2011 will be a good year for you all and Sarnie will back at her best.

I love little Ash by the way, he looks a lot of fun:)

We all have seasons that don't pan out as we had planned but Sarnie's ** result was terrific as have been Ash's dressage party performances.

Just think - this time next year Sarnie will have complete a ***, Pippa will have points at Novice, Rosie will be dc at PN and Ash will have a wonderful new home :)

Oh, I had forgotten the early photo of Ash, what a transformation, he's matured so well. As well as been very successful :)

Here's to a successful 2011 with fewer lows! Although I always say you need the lows to have the highs or life would be very boring ;)

I love reading your reports and am very much looking forward to hearing about your progress next year :)

I can't imagine how awful all that hassle re Ash was :( Hopefully he can carry on up the ladder in another new home :)

I loved reading both the report above and the one on your website. I don't know how you manage to find the time and energy to fit everything in, and am rather in awe. Good luck for 2011!

wow...a busy year! really glad to hear that sarnie is back in work- fingers crossed for the *** next year! also, really hope that you really find a good home for ash- i think he's stunning :)

Fabulous report, I might have to do one even though I've not got much to tell!

Beautiful piccy of Sarnie, would love to complete a 1* one day, maybe in a few years!

Ash is lovely, if I had money (skint due to xmas) I would buy him!

:)

Ash has made a huge change and is so smart (and cute) we still call him a bog pony but that isn't always fair!

Yeah the lows do make it better but I probably could adjust to a few seasons of highs ;)

Energy and finance is starting to reduce, I keep telling people we are retiring the season after next as can't keep going at this pace. Time will tell if we do

:)

I have had an idea, I could syndicate Ash. Everyone could buy a share then he could spend a few weeks with everyone before moving on :D :D

What a year you lucky thing - I wish mine had been quite so successful :)

I do know the pain and guilt of not getting to that elusive issue quite quick enough but we are only human after all - it would be far easier if they could talk. Although I have learnt not to ignore my gut feeling as its normally spot on...

Here's to an even better 2011 for you!

I tried retiring once but was miserable as sin, so it's not to be recommended!

Am loving Rosie, can't wait to see more of her, and Ash is just a dude. I'll be first on the list for the syndicate please but he may have to go on the stretching machine first. ;) And Pippa is a small horse for our yard!

Will wish you all the best for 2011, especially with Sarnie as she is such a star.

Ps. Is it wrong that I winced and laughed in sync with you coming off the mechanical horse? I wasn't any better but I've just shoved my memories of it to the back of my brain and will stick with falling off normal horses thanks. ;)

Great report SJ!
Sarnie looking as regal as ever! Next year will be her year for sure.

If I win the lottery I'll buy Ash for you to ride - how does that sound?

Loving Pippa - but then I like big inattentive mares ;) and I look forward to seeing more of the 'malingerer' next year too!

Whenever I feel a bit tired or despondent with the short days, cold weather and a horse on DIY I remember that you do so much more and at ridiculous times of the day so I give myself a kick up the backside!

brilliant report, love the pics, stunning horses! Best of luck for 2011(which wont be far away now, esp as we have had the shortest day!! woohooo)!!!!

Great report, super piccies. Sarnie and yourself look so amazing flying over those massive fences!
I LOVE Ash! If I had pots of money I'd buy him, I'd give him a loving all-round home :D. Stoopid woman, what's up with some people?! Prob good thing she complained as she would only have ruined him I guess.
Good luck for next year, you're very brave! :D
