I thought I might copy the government who have done an end of year report! Also added a few competition pictures (all copyright free) in reminiscence of the 2010 season. For a proper review of the events of the 2010 season see my website http://www.shoestringeventing.co.uk/2010-review.htm
Sarnie
Never quite performing to her best, although tried hard despite niggling injuries that perhaps could have recognised sooner. Has frequent diva moments and can be a bit big headed.
Highlights
23rd at Tattersalls CCI** with a good clear cross country around a course that caused carnage.
Lows
The CIC*** at Barbury where she only completed dressage and wasn't quite right behind. Her subsequent loss of jumping prowess when she was diagnosed with a damaged Sacroiliac Joint.
Looking Ahead
After 5 months rehab she is now back in full work so providing her jumping performance has returned we will be aiming at completion in that elusive CIC*** next season.
Ashley
A favourite who always tries hard to please. Perhaps shown the most change over the year from a soft flabby figure to a handsome chap.
Highs
As well as successfully competing in BE100, showing and BS he has excelled at dressage winning 12 out of 15 unaffiliated classes and 4 out of 6 affiliated winning 22 points.
Lows
Having him returned after I sold him to a lady (she turned out to need a brain dead cob and not a forward going gentleman). The threats through a solicitor were unnerving and frustrating when as a genuine seller I was selling a very genuine horse.
Looking Ahead
Hopefully Ashs future will be in a new home where someone will appreciate him for his lovely manners and great all round ability.
Rosie
Hard to assess as spent more time in the sick bay than actually being ridden. Nice to handle but could be smarter in the appearance, wearing poo stains in the morning is not smart on a grey coat.
Highs
Very few as yet, no pictures even as looking too manky, a early video may give you an idea of why I quite liked her! http://www.youtube.com/user/carnarthen1#p/u/4/NVmXxG3dlPs
Lows
Developing a skin lergy shortly after arrival and then passing it onto Ash. At least the Diva didnt get it. Now it is better the weather is preventing her being ridden. Was not bought as a stable ornament!
Looking Ahead
Riding her would be good, after getting her a bit fitter some hunting with the aim of BE by mid 2011.
Pippa
An athletic and neat horse for such a big girl. Can get distracted in boring sessions such as dressage and should try and concentrate on what she is doing!
Highs
Showing she has more potential than originally expected with ability to rise up the grades BE.
Lows
Her size(16.3), have tried washing her but she wont shrink and her owner seems to quite like her the size she is!
Looking Ahead
She will start her BE career at 100 level and hope to progress to Novice sometime during the season
Jockey
Could do better (as always). Has improved the mental side following some NLP brainwashing) sessions, could now work on fitness and flexibility. Has been demonstrated to splat easily when falling off. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VA15bkTtr4w
Highs
I must be ill! - producing Ash to be so successful in his dressage career. Also having the opportunity to ride 4 different horses at BE this year.
Lows
Struggling to find and help Sarnie when she wasnt quite right and the feeling of helplessness sometimes. Also receiving solicitors letters re Ash when I consider myself a totally honest and straightforward seller.
Looking Ahead
Working to improve my riding and become fitter. Trying to get over my mental issues that count me as a failure if I dont achieve professional riding standards!
