OMG how is it September this weekend?

What has everyone got planned?

Quiet one here, Darcy had the physio this morning so won't do a lot for a couple of days, but we do have a lesson next Wednesday :p not sure how productive that will be but it's a milestone to aim for, taking him out somewhere and having a bit of a ride.

There's a cycling event round all the local roads on Saturday so I think we will mainly be hiding at home and doing electric fence knitting! o_O (see below)

Have fun all :D

boring picture of soggy ponies in pens ;) Kira is delighted to be outside again but has to have Millie next door still, or she freaks out. Meanwhile Salty and Twiggy have palled up in M's absence  Herd dynamics are all out of sorts :p

They do look soggy poor things MP.....

Enjoy getting all the tangles out of your electric fencing :( (not)

I'm working until 6 this evening, and then off until Monday, and we are celebrating the last weekend of the school holidays by going to a stay away WH/showing show in Co Donegal. Leaving Fri afternoon, home Sunday sometime.

Two WH classes and a flat class each for us on Saturday (assuming no clashes), and one derby class each on Sunday then heading for home.

I always get stressed packing though, so will be glad when we are on our way tomorrow.

Cheeky 8yo has been a wee monster the past few days, so I hope he behaves himself, I've threatened a few times to leave him at home with granddad, and hubby and I will go away ourselves.....

Well, was going to RC clinic on Sat, but its just been postponed for a month.
Had a lovely lovely hack early this morning, escorting someone tomorrow.

Now trying to make plans to box up to meet others for a fun hack or something this Saturday. No Sunday plans yet, lots of local things going on tho.

MP, you have rain?!
Fiona, good luck at show. I find the packing and remembering stuff the worst bit!

Good luck to those competing x

why is it so blinking soggy at this time of year, it is still summer for a little while longer right?

Have a great time Fiona - sounds like good fun

good luck with the horse viewing AE - is that for your daughter?

Not much for me actually over the weekend, probably just hacking. Monday & Tuesday I have more lessons with Pammy Hutton so looking forward to that :)

good luck to anyone out competing or having lessons

Ooh, I'm actually doing something horse related - a couple of years back I donated a trophy to a local show in memory of my horse of a lifetime, and I get to go and present it again. Goes to the winner of the 'all rounder or PC club pony' class as there isn't a class for funny tempered palominos!

I also get to spend the day stewarding the in hand ring and being fed chips.

Good luck to everyone out and about

I'm not doing anything this weekend. I'll get the pony out on the roads while the weather is still ok. See if we can shift some of the blubber shes been collecting!

New boy is booked in for a hock arthroscopy mid Sept, so not much going on riding wise! Will be taking him out in the trailer for a little ride on Sat, plus a bit of loading practice to get him loading himself.

I will hopefully have my trailer back as its been fixed and then I can go park up my trailer at the pub and go for a nice long hack off the busy roads.

I'm trying not to be childish and sulk about missing autumn camp. Instead I'm hoping to go watch a little on Saturday afternoon and then watch the show that follows it on Sunday. This will give me the chance to see how Daisy is doing too, she's been working hard on weeding the horse walker so far. To cheer myself up I've booked a lesson for a week on Friday.

I've hired an arena to do some jumping tomorrow. Then I guess hacking over the weekend.

(I had better options I didn't pursue. I'm now angry with myself for that :p )

My girl is off work at the minute, has a bit of a cough . So started her on some ventapulmin today I’m hoping to see an improvement soon . My daughters doing a 80cm unaffiliated ODE on Sunday so looking forward to that . Vet is due tomorrow to scan a mare and see if she’s in foal . It’s my daughters first attempt at breeding this year , and it’s been an expensive one , so hoping she has something to show at the end of it .
Good luck everyone out and about .

Exciting stuff AE - let us know how the viewing goes

Sorry to hear your missing camp Alibear, they are always loads of fun . Enjoy your lesson
Good luck at your shows Fiona

Adult mounted games tomorrow at rodbaston , looking forward to it as it was cancelled in April due to bad weather .
We had to have a rejig of our team as 2 people couldnt make the new date ,then one riders horse went lame, but hopefully we're all sorted now
Anyone else going ?

Seeing as my boy is out of action for the foreseeable future/indefinitely, I thought I would give back some of my time and am dressage writing for the Area Festival at Sparsholt - anybody from here going?
Really looking forward to seeing it from a judge's perspective, and am writing for classes at the same level I compete, so hopefully will get some pointers.
Will try and sneak in a quiet rehab hack on my boy but he is being a spooky nappy t*t at the moment, so will see how I feel.
Have a fun weekend everyone!

Viewing is on hold..... :(

Jenny was viewed soon after after camp and vetting identified a slight front foot problem - which vetting vet assured buyer he was almost certain was nothing much - minor, time limited injury. So plan was 2 weeks rest, 1 week work and re-vet. Buyers were willing to wait. But she has just failed again. 1/10ths lame on front left foot on hard turns after flexion. Sound in any kind of 'normal' work. So that's a bummer. Vet continues to believe it is a minor, time limited injury which will resolve within a short space of time. But in the meantime we are in limbo selling and buying wise. x

That is so frustrating. I honestly wonder how many horses or ponies who’ve had an active life would have something show on a hard turn after flexion! Was it whilst trotting a circle?

Yes! Vettings are very frustrating. If she were not being vetted she would be in work as there is nothing showing up as wrong until you go looking for it. But to be fair to vet he is saying he is 'not worried' but he just can't pass her fit on the day. And he can't categorically rule out that this is the start of something that would eventually turn into something.

We’re showjumping tonight. As ever the anxiety has set in and I wonder why I do this to myself. Despite the fact I know I will have a good time and be buzzing after!

That’s a shame AE, fingers crossed for Jenny.
I am due to have my usual flatwork lesson tomorrow though if bad weather may have to cancel (if too windy to tow).
Am entered in RC hunter trials on Sunday, however depends on how greasy the ground is - raining today and forecast all weekend. Mr H is barefoot and I discovered a couple of weeks ago he is not happy on slippy ground. So might end up helping out instead.
Have a saddle check booked on Tuesday and going to try some other saddles as well to see if he is freer in canter in a circle.
Hope everyone has a good weekend and isn’t affected by rubbish weather

I'll be spending the weekend ringing farrier after farrier, trying to find one who'll actually respond to me...

We had moderately good news at the vet this week. She came sound as soon as her feet were nerve blocked, and x-rays showed she has very thin soles, but there's nothing else showing up that's likely to be causing an issue. So the plan is to get some shoes on (which will, unfortunately, require IV sedation) and see how she goes from there. I've got various hoof supplements ordered, too.

She did, unfortunately, disgrace herself at the vet's - snapped a leadrope and terrified a junior vet nurse. "She's not nasty," says the vet. "She's just got very strong opinions about things." So we're also getting a behaviourist out to see if we can convince her that her opinions are less important than a human's.

On the bright side, she loaded and travelled beautifully. I did have visions of arguments, because when she was delivered to me, she arrived quite sweated up. But she marched on with no hesitation (although I was waving a bucket of mollychop in front of her), travelled without a sound, and stepped off steadily at the other end. (Unfortunately, she did then see some FOALS and nearly towed me over to try to get to them. It's a shame she's not good enough to breed from because, oh, she REALLY loves babies.)

Was hoping to go on hound exercise on Sunday but ground has hardened up again so likely not. Plus I’m on the verge of having bloods run on Boggle (had hoped to see if hounds would brighten him up). He’s weirdly steady and flat to ride at the moment but seems well in himself otherwise and looks great.

Is this the clinic at Jade’s? I’m hoping to do the new date as I couldn’t do this weekend!

Magic and I are off to Munstead for some XC schooling this eve and then it’s a weekend of non-horsey time with a trip to Dorset with the in-laws.
