Endurance report! 60km debut for the Spooky Pony

Well done both of you! You've inspired me, I did out first pleasure ride a couple of weeks ago and my boy was fab, really want to try endurance with him and after reading your fab report still really want to do it - although it does seem a bit technical lol!

What a fab report! I raise my CC&C (the only truly Canadian alcoholic beverage I can think of off the top of my head) to you.

Maybe an Ontario ice wine, or some maple syrup liqueur? Or some Sortilege (think that's maybe whisky with maple syrup liqueur?)?

Well done! That all sounds very exciting. Do you mind me asking how you got into endurance? How easy is it to find competitions?

There was a Pleasure Ride in the woods near my old yard, and the entries secretary was kind enough to let us enter just the day before. The pony did very well, despite being out of time (we took 1/2 the time to go about 1/4 the distance, because I took the "pleasure" bit a little too literally, so the fact that we were only a few minutes over is a testament to our speed over the the rest of the ride! :D ). I met another German lady, who was very encouraging afterwards.

As to rides, I can find a shorter ride (Pleasure or 30km) within a 2 hour drive most weekends, but the longer ones are not as common, so I will have to go further afield on overnight trips more frequently if we continue to do longer distances. For example, our branch is only offering 3 50km rides this year, 1 60km ride, and no rides of 80km or more.

A huge well done from me too!
My Club are Endurance orientated, so your tale is very interesting.
How long before your next ride?

I think you're in France? Probably about 3 weeks, but I need to assess the calendar carefully first.

Can recommend Kerrits tights (try three lows equestrian) as mega mega comfy :)
Fab report!

Thanks, I will investigate! :o

Sounds like you both coped well and learnt a lot - onwards to bodly go where no Spookypony has gone before?

Time to think about doing a 2-day ride, I think! :D Maybe 30+30 or 40+40 would be good preparation for his next 60km. :D
