Can anyone who does either enduance or le trec give me some info or links to sites etc where I can find out more. I fancy trying something different this year with my Arab x pony and think this could be the thing. Feeling a bit bored / uninspired with dressage etc at the moment. :)

Have a look on sport endurance website, they do rides all over the country, membership is £30 a year and you can try pleasure rides first to get you into it. Lots of tips on their site, very friendly at rides and lots of fun :)

spizwhizz I think you will find that "Sports Endurance" do not holds rides all over the country. There rides are from the Midlands up to the North and there are no rides down in the south.

Endurance GB is the National organization and not Sports Endurance

They cover Wales too - maybe the OP doesn't mind travelling? Join both then plenty of options! Better to have many options than just one organising body do you not think?

If you want to whet your appetite as to what you might be letting yourself in for with endurance, we've been videoing some of our localish rides. As we're based in Yorkshire we're a bit more north than you but you'll get the general idea.

Watch out though - endurance is very addictive. In fact typing this I've just realised I've been at it 15 years. That's scary. I've met so many very good friends through it though, and my life would have been totally different had I not taken the plunge and tried an organised pleasure ride back in 1996.

If you want to start with non competitive rides, you can start off as an associate member of your local group for £18 I think it is, which gets you the local newsletters, the national newsletters, and entry to any EGB group's local training rides at member's rates. Ruddy good deal actually - just 4 rides and it will have paid for itself.

Hope to see you on the trail :)

I'm in the south east (Kent) :)

Me too :)

We did the Penshurst Training Ride last summer, 20 miles. The organisers were so friendly and helpful, they made us feel really welcome.

We've just signed up to do the Chobham Training Ride on the 20th February, but as it's the first of the season we're just going to do the 10 mile ride - plus it's a bit further in the trailer from Maidstone, so would be expecting a bit much to travel that distance, do 20 miles and then travel back.

I'm hoping to do quite a few this year, but only the Training Rides and Non Competitive rides - for now :D

This is the ride list for 2011 http://www.endurancegbsoutheast.co.uk/ItemFiles/RideList2011_V2.2.pdf hopefully the link will work and the map for all the locations is on their home page http://www.endurancegbsoutheast.co.uk/
