I would have said that the EnduranceGB website was the best place to give you all the costs of entry fees etc and the ride schedule any specific costs relating to corralling, camping, forestry permission. However, is this an EGB ride as I don't think it is on the calendar? Are you gonig for Sport Endurance instead?

Ah ok, I've got it down as Cheshire Forest (how sad am I that I have to keep a massive spreadsheet of what pony is doing what and where and when in order to be organised!)

Right first cost could be any time off work you need to take. If you are more than two to three hours trailer drive from the venue then really you need to get there the day before.

If having to hire a trailer then there is that cost. There is also the fuel there and back.

Are you taking crew? It is not really necessary for non competitive rides but depending on your distances, experience and the weather it may be nice to have someone go out on course to meet you and water you and the horse. Also, if someone spare is going with you to stay over then it will give them a job to do so they don't get bored! Think about the extra fuel that will use though.

Ride schedule has info on camping and coralling prices http://www.endurancegb.co.uk/html/ScheduleDetails.asp?Ride_Auto_Id=58

EGB site has ride entry prices http://www.endurancegb.co.uk/html/entryfees.html

Add on to that little extras like stamps for SAE, food whilst you are away and making sure that your horse is shod not too long before the ride.

Coralling is basically maikng a little electric fence pen for the horse to stay in overnight. If you don't have it you will have to buy posts, tape, and energizer and battery (corals MUST be electrified), so it may be cheaper to stable. If you are going to coral make sure that you practice at home first so your horse is used to being in a small space and having the electric on.

You won't need to buy any special tack but do take lots of spares e.g. stirrup leathers incase anything breaks, rugs for all weathers and clean boots, numnahs girths etc for the second day incase first lot get wet or muddy or sweaty.

And finally have a really nice time and enjoy yourselves!

Oh and PS the schedule gives opening and closing dates. You must not post your entry before the opening date or it will be returned!
