If you have not already seen it, sickening video footage on You Tube.

20160130 Al Wathba Jr/YR Endurance Cup, Yassports TV
Rachel Marty

I am so upset as it looks as if the grey horse is a Shagya. I refuse to sell my Shagya Arabs for endurance, even though we had lots of fun with our young stallion. He completed 3 x 90k endurance in France with effortless ease coming home with his ears pricked and just damp under his saddle cloth. This is what endurance is about.

Can we name and shame the owners of these abused horses? Will they turn up at Royal Ascot? I would like to think the British public would boo them off the course.

Interestingly I am getting an error message after the ads on the clip, wonder if it has been pulled. I love doing endurance with my mare, but we are a partnership, and I hate seeing these beautiful horses treated like this when they have given their all!

I cannot bring myself to watch the video clips, it just sickens me.

What is also vile is that there are a few endurance breeders over here quite happy to sell their horses over there. I don't know how they can sleep at night.

Flame thank you for the link. I have signed the petition. However, many of these disgraceful owners will turn up in their finery at Royal Ascot to mix with the great and the good. I would like to see them ostracised in horse racing circles. After all they do it again and again and 100,000 dollar fine is nothing to them.

As horrendous as the video is, I'm not surprised. The Islamic caliphate is not exactly renown for its human rights (especially towards women and children), what makes anyone think they'd treat their horses any better?

Exactly, and things won't change. I watched the video and wished I hadn't.

Things have changed under Sheikh Sultan, it can change when the other owners (owner??!) want it to. The FEI are acting and worldwide pressure from not just endurance people but all people who can see that these races are not humane could make things happen. The momentum is there ATM thanks to Pippa Cuckson and supporters, maybe if racing people wanted to help bring about changes here, their making noise could add influence?
