Energiser Recommendations.

Rutland electric Shepard. I've had 3 in 15 years and then only because they were stolen. Last one I bought second hand, looks older than my original, and has been working well every spring/summer for the last 4ish years.

Well, don't go for Hotline Geminis. I posted a thread a couple of days ago about how my energisers all seem to die within a year or two. I like the Geminis while they work, but they just don't seem to last. So I'll be going for a different brand now.

I've got the Hotline Gemini 80, it will probably now break as I'm writing this but it's well into it's 3 year of constant being use run off a battery and never had a problem...

Fencemen! Had mine 18 months and still on the same battery (and it's been on pretty much 24/7 since). How it's still going I don't know, but it's amazing. Has a battery in it that you can replace and it's light enough to move from field to field by hand. Several friends have brought them on my recommendation and also love them.

Hence my other post... I'm half convinced that something about the way I use my energisers is killing them early. But I can't figure out why! As far as I'm aware, I'm using them just the way you're supposed to, and they usually seem to fail on some part of the circuit failing (energiser powers up, but doesn't pulse).

I'm not totally sold on the Fenceman brand, or at least not on the one energiser I have from them (DP350B). Its output is barely noticeable (literally touching the contacts) when run off internal D-cell batteries, and not that strong either when run off a 12V battery. But in all fairness, it's still alive after many years (of mostly being in the shed, not used, because too wimpy).
I think I might aim for a Gallagher, even if they cost twice as much as the Hotline ones...

I've only ever used the heavy duty fenceman that connect to an external battery or to the mains. Fab and well worth the extra bit of money. Never bothered with D cells as just not powerful enough.
