No . Years ago nearly took my finger off when it caught on something at the yard . Wouldn't wear ear rings as seen too many people with tears through their ears.
I am quite big on jewellery - I wear rings on both hands, ear-rings, chains and bracelets, but never wear anything (not even a chain around my neck) when ponying
I normally take mine off to ride, except I temporarliy lost it the other day. Luckily I found it as I was dreading telling hubby that I had lost his gran's ring along with the diamond he had bought me.
my wedding ring lives in my purse, only ever wear it if we go out for a special occassion. Thats hardly ever lol. I have problems with my fingers swelling so don't know if I'm allergic to gold
I don't now wear any rings except when going out somewhere special.
Over several years the two rings wore smooth as the rein is against them. The ring part of the engagement ring became so thin that it made my finger sore. The wedding ring had a really attractive decorative surface but it became completely smooth. So I took both rings off when riding. I later dislocated a finger so it was a long time before I could wear them again.
If I had realised how they would get damaged I would have only worn a wedding ring. The problem was the 2 rings together. These are precious things to be looked after carefully.
wear mine all the time. For the first week i carefully took it off and put it somewhere safe everytime i got to the yard, but then I kept forgetting where that safe place was so safest thing is to wear it! Oddly enough though I always take it off if I go out running or cycling yet I happily muck out in it! I get married 8 months today, eek!
I wear my engagement ring all the time except at the yard/around the horses, when it comes off and goes on my necklace.... In my mind, I'm still "wearing" it, just not on my hand where it could get caught or damaged. OH is a medic who is very insistent I don't put myself at risk with it on my hand.
My necklace is always tucked in under my top, (even in the summer it's hidden) and so I have no worries about catching it on anything, although I am almost certain if it did catch, it would break easily so I wouldn't be hurt and my ring would end up somewhere inside my t-shirt, (I always tuck it into my johds!!)
When I'm around horses I put my engagement ring in my pocket of my jodhpurs - I know it's safe in there and I like to know it's still with me
I'd hate to leave it in the car and have it nicked!!
Wouldn't wear it riding unless I had gloves on but purely cos I don't want loads of dirt getting in it!!
I wear my wedding ring all the time - I generally take my engagement ring off when I'm at the yard because the stone sticks up and I'm worried about catching it. Word of warning (even though I didn't learn from it!) - if you fall off and catch your hand, rings really dig in!! I caught mine, it bruised so much, I couldn't get the ring off and it dug in so was constantly painful!
I have engagement, wedding and eternity rings and never wear any of them around the horses or when doing any manual type stuff.
The day I was given my engagement ring it was banned from going to the stables, so it didn't get grubby, so I got used to taking it on and off.
Now we have the horses at home now, I have got into a habit of taking them off at night and they only go back on when I go out (non horse related|) as soon as I get home to do the horses they go back in their box.
Occasionly I might nip out to check on horses to change a rug or something and if I have them on then I keep them on.
I take all my rings off to ride but I do wear my wedding band when I take my daughter to the stables - because it's a riding school I'm only leading a pony in and out of her stable and maybe the odd bit of grooming.....!
I knew someone who lost a thumb by wrapping a leadrope around her hand to load a difficult horse, eww!
DON'T EVER WEAR A RING WITH OR WITHOUT GLOVES WHEN RIDING. My friend fell of and had her hand stood on 12 months ago. She had an open fracture,on her ring finger and several other fractures. She is still not 100% recovverd and has restricted movement. Doctor has told her if she'd had her rings on at the time she'd have been likely to have LOST HER HAND from infection as they'd have struggled to get the ring off. She was wearing leather gloves at the time of the fall and her hand was partly cushioned by the soft school surface but she still had all these injuries. Does that persuade you all that sentimentality has to stop somewhere. You can't wear your ring if you've no hand left to put it on!!!!!!
I wear my Mum's wedding ring on my pinky! It is vey thick band of gold & snug fitting (in fact it is flush with my finger! If I take it off there is an indent where it sits!)
A friend of mine at cattle auction had this calf sucking her fingers & it sucked her wedding ring off!
As calf went into ring auctioner said "Now this calf is worth it's weight in gold!!" LOL!
She had to buy it & do some sieve work to get it back!!
i lost my rather expensive engagement ring dwn the yard it wasnt insured!!!! oh was not happy a few years later some1 found the band in the car park all mangled up missing the diamond! he has since bought me a new ring that i still wear dwn the yard cos he wants me to keep it on!!! silly i no but iv had it made smaller so its reli reli tight hope it stays on this time lol!
I never wear my rings when riding orwhen working a the yard, purel becuase i don't want loose any of the stones, get dirt in the setting and also becuase of working with machinery am very aware of the risks of wearing jewellery.
I always totally refused to wear my engagement ring around horses, but have always worn my wedding ring. I was given an eternity ring at Christmas and do wear that, but hubby deliberately got a channel set ring so the stones do not protrude very much.
