The wagon woes continue :( To be fair to the poor thing, it has not been out for two months, so not surprisingly when I went to start it to take it to the garage, to have it's speedo cable reconected, it said 'no, I do not have enough battery'. There is no electricity where the wagon is kept.
So, does anyone recomend a reasonably priced engine starter, for a 6 litre diesel engine? Please :)

My local farm shop sells hefty jump leads which are about 3 times the length of standard ones. Very useful things and have often helped us out on single tracks.

Does the garage you're taking it to have a booster you could borrow?
Failing that - if you can get car close enough and lorry is 12v - 2 sets of heavy duty jump leads (don't let them touch the ground where they join)

Do you have recovery for your lorry? they may come & start the lorry for you. Failing that you need to remove your batteries & charge them. If you can't do that they someone you know could or call in a mechanic. After you've got the lorry sorted out have an isolator fitted & hopefully this will be a thing of the past.

A decent jump pack is a lot of money , a friend who does lorry repairs just bought one £700+vat !! and this wont solve your problem as you would need to run the lorry for about 10 hours to fully charge the batterys just jumping it and running for a bit will just about put enough to start it again but there wont be any reserve and it will ruin the baterys if they are left with a low charge!!!! best bet is as others said,is take the baterys home and charge them, you need a charger that puts out about 10 or more amps and give each battery about 24 hours or untill the charger indicates full charge , make sure you isolate the batterys when you park the lorry up and you should avoid problems..
