I LOVE both these breeds andin.the next few months i hope to get a puppy. I currently work at a kennels (dog can come to work) and if i leave itl be to have my own business/yard work so dog should always be able to come work :)

My best friend has a boxer and shes amazing but ob all breeds vary with different dogs. I want a breed thats energetic enough to play/walk a lot/hack out with horse but also be friendly and cuddly sometimes too..

Its between.these two breeds so.please can.you post your experiences of either/both breed and of course as many photos as you can :)

I've had 2 Bullies, the last was a really great dog. He was energetic and full of it for the first 5 yrs; then he went into retirement for the next 7 yrs. He was an excellent friendly dog and never even growled at anyone, ever. The thing I found funny is people either cross the road to avoid you or cross from the other side to make a big fuss of them. Great family dog. He used to pull like steam train on a lead. We got him from a local rescue center at 8 months old. The person who ran it knew we had a Bully before, so offered him to us. They are careful with Bull breeds and don't like them to get into the wrong hands.

My neighbour has always had Boxers. The last two he had died of heart failure due to the breathing problems they have, they just can't get enough oxygen in and this strain sometimes takes them early. The one they have now has a lovely temperament and very friendly. The one before him was a snappy bu**er if you went too close he would actually snap at your face.

You'll find breeders will tell you their breed is the best in the world. Is always best to go by dogs you know yourself for an unbiased view. Good luck

i love boxers, but the health problems really put me off ever having one. i think just about every boxer i have known has dies of cancer. :(

love EBT's- BUT hate the show bred dog that exists mainly today. :( fat and ugly in the main part, and the dome far too exaggerated. the only EBT i would ever want to own are the ingles bull terriers (thunder rock bull breeds). fit for function... but a bit too drivey for many!

owning a bullbreed is a full time job in my experience- but well worth it! (i have an american bulldog) ;)

just do A LOT of research into kennels and lines before you buy a pup. ;)

also... i would consider your future plans for childminding.... my mum cant have a dog because she runs a nursey from there... ;)

good luck! ;)

My mum has had both and as the main differences were her boxer was the most high energy destructive dog we've ever had but really soppy and could trust her with anyone and anything. Her EBT was the most calm, cuddly girl who didn't need tons of exercise. The only thing with the EBT was she was a really jealous dog so you had to be careful to make new introductions respectfully.

Out of the two breeds i'm a bully fan and will have nothing else so EBT wins hands down.

Good luck new puppies are lovely whatever their breed.

American bulldogs are great :D ... but again- you need to do A LOT of research before choosing a pup- there are so many litters hitting the ground without papered or health tested parents its not even funny. Good, ethical breeders in the AB world are few and far between. ;)

saying that there are a HUGE amount of bullies in need of good forever homes- and although i'm sure you'd love a pup (who wouldn't?!) maybe you would consider re-homing a rescue Bullie?

Have a chat to East Kemt. She is a breeder and rescues EBTS as well. I love EBTs but ha e always likened them to Pooh, as in normally great characters of little brain! I am biased obviously towards EBTs though as love my three staffords greatly. Now that is a breed that, like all others, once started properly are brilliant. Mine are all overly social, used to mixing with lots of strange dogs at the yard and shows and youngest one is halfway to being properly trained for hacking. Just needs to learn to LEAVE random strangers alone and not assume they are all going to want a cuddle! Nearly there now though!

I love Boxers!!!!!!

I've had two one died of a heart problem as a 2year old and took us 5years to have another.
We done lots of research into te breed of our boxer now but he's still a walking health problem. He's had two lumps removed, one on his foot and one on his eye lid, neither cancerous. His eight now but just been diagnosed with hip dysplasica (sp?). He is a worry all the time but the most fun loving loyal dog. Wouldn't change his for the world even with all his vets bill (accident prone to).

Mmmm, most bull terriers would not be up for going off with you on hacks. They just are not designed for that kind of exercise, plus of course they are not nearly savvy enough to stay with you off lead. They are fine for people walks, but not for joggers or the like.If they are made to do that kind of exercise they tend to run up very light by necessity and become rather hyper and fixated on "the burn" of it.
Boxers, well yes, major heart problems ,a decent breeder will have generations of heart tested dopplered stock, and they are much higher energy too. Sometimes I have to say a crossbred between a staffie and a bull terrier is a very good option, more level headed and easier temperament.Must say those crosses that have been through my hands have been charming. There are also lots of staffies out there,a more charming and cuddly breed you will not find, and dare I say it,a lot more healthy , hardy and long lived than the other two.:)
If I wanted a real trouble free little cuddly bull breed..a nice little staffie girlie would be my choice.........Now,it just so happens I have Lola her,a golden brindle small girlie, young and was on Death Row!!!:D:D:D:D

My OH's cousin has/had boxers. 2 have now died of cancer, one at 10 the other heart breakingly at 4.

Bullies on the other hand cracking little dogs, although agree with EK with regards to Staffs and their crosses
