English Heritage Comfort Bridle

I am looking to buy a Heritage comfort bridle (cavasson without flash) for my boy for christmas. However before I commit to anything, does anyone have any comments to make about them? Good leather? Bad leather? Long wearing etc....

The more comments the better :).

If its from Matt at Heritagesaddlery.co.uk then its superb, genuine uk made by proper bench saddlers.My cob wore his at HOYS with pride:) if its cheapo Ebay Heritage then its the imported knockoff copies- you pay your money, you take your choice ;) post a link if not sure..
 
I've got one, had it for about 5 years and it still looks brand new! Very hard wearing, very soft comfortable leather, and overall looks gorgeous!

Bought it from my local saddlery for £50 if I remember correctly.
 
Definitely only worth getting if you get directly from Matt Marlowe at Heritage. The Samuel Sharp copies are pretty poor (I know, I have one - it started as black, but is now going brown), however I have one of Matt's saddles and am currently getting another one made by him and know that the quality of his products is a completely different league.
 
Oh gosh I didn't realise that they had cheap knock offs. The webpages really helped, thank you :).

How do they compare with the likes of Kate Negus (although knowing that she is more expensive)...?
 
The Heritage bridle is perfectly ok. Nicely made, and you get a nice bridle for the price.

It's not a patch on the Elevator, but if you haven't the luxury of one of those, it is absolutely fine.

FWIW I don't believe the cheaper Heritage bridle is a knock off at all, in fact I believe there is some dispute/confusion over the same name.

Believe me the cheaper one is definitely a copy. Snowhills Trade Saddlery do the copies. They are made abroad. The leather is crap. Matt's are definitely the originals and far better made then the rubbish from Snowhills, which is marketed as "Samuel Sharp" - even if the leather is originally English, it definitely isn't made in England.

I think you are right. Those heritage bridles with the logo like the ebay one are great - I have had one for years, really nice alternative to the Elevator. There is another kind which are also called heritage, there was some dispute about the name and unfortunately I thinkthey are still about, foreign made, horrid leather....
 
Someone told me Samuel Sharps have denied supplying the leather for the cheap ones, but I don't know if that's true or not.

Actually I have one of the cheap ones and its ok for the money, but not a patch on my elevator. I haven't ever seen the 'real' Heritage one
