I have been given this product by my equine vet to treat persistent feather mites in my little foster cob. Dosage is specific to his legs, not to use along midline as with cattle. I'm a little nervous, has anyone else used it for horses? Obviously I know about spot tests etc.

Not that particular brand but another ivermectin pour on for my Ardennes when he was alive. Mixed with glycerol I think to help it stick.

Fine for the horse just need to watch dogs. I warned the liveries but one still rocked up with her dogs and they were collies too

I've not used that particular treatment but over the years my vets have given me a number of products licensed for species other than horses, because the testing for horses is expensive, so hasn't been done. I've always just been glad that there was something that could help.

@Landcruiser - just wondering how you got on with it? I've had my cob mare a year now and when she first arrived she had multiple scabs/sores on her legs from mites. I've been using a mix of Frontline spot on (applied once) and pig oil/sulphur applied regularly - but it's so messy and time consuming to work the oil through her feathers. She is very averse to her legs being washed, and I don't always have someone available to help me with washing/applying products. A friend recommended a similar cattle pour on as it has worked for her, so interested to hear if you got good results? How did you apply it, and in what amounts please?

I have used spot ons regularly. No issues with the big fella but I tried it on my minis for sweetitch, they had weird back patches on their coat (like the winter coat didn’t come in on the saddle patch) for a year after. However they never got sweet itch ever again so far and that was about 3 years ago 🤔
