I've been making a big effort to do more enrichement with the dogs. Yesterday we played fetch in the big yard, a rare treat, played find it twice, once inside and once outside. He finally gets find it, it's only taken 2yrs
🤣
. Then he got to go to the waste land next door to hunt things in the undergrowth. Its an old yard of some sort with a couple of barns, trees and brambles, grassy areas and all sortsof weird terrain. Its unused and we are allowed to go in there so he can pick off any rabbits and rats he finds. They don't want either coming through the fence into the accommodation section so its a win win section for everyone. Its fenced with 6ft fencing and a lockable gate and there's no deer so he can have total freedom for once.

Then we went out in the car to guard the car that I had to leave running while I went into the post office because the starter motor is knackered and until its repaired on Friday if I turn it off it wont restart for 4hours.

Floyd went to bed, but Cooperhad a kong on the sofa. A huge win as I was in the bedroom and he has been very uncomfortable being in another room without me. A side effect of being raised on tiny boats were we are always in sight of each other I guess.

By bed time he was shattered and had his weird tired ears on!

Hes booked in to go swimming next week and we have found some training classes that don't involve very basic puppy style training but also arent drilling, so we will see how he goes.Once the car is definitely fixed we can look at some of the stuff suggested on my previous post.

Today we did baskets of stuff. No idea what they are called, but similar to the photo. They had filled kongs, a handful of kibble, cheese wrapped in brown paper, treats in a small thin box, different treats wrapped in bubble wrap as Floyd loves to pop bubble wrap, basically anything I could find that might be fun but work to get. What else can I put in them? I'm happy to buy things that arent very expensive and I'll keep hold of egg cartons and things going forward, but otherwise I'm a bit stumped. The dogs loved them and spent 20mins digging and ripping and having a really good time.

I'll keep up find it now the penny has finally dropped for cooper. Anything else I can do? Toys get played with very occasionally, but they just aren't that bothered. They both love food and I've cut down their meals to have them a bit hungry so they are more engaged.

And finally, I'm wanting to teach them to go round me, so start in front and circle round the back and then sit, but cant think what to call it. Go round means when they are off lead and there's a bike/person/obstruction and they are to give it a wide berth, so needs to be a different word to round.

Have you tried the various dog puzzles. I’ve got a couple of wooden Nina Ottosson ones that I pull out every so often. I try and do a variety of walks for mine and use some woods for them to do bit of hunting , there’s only rabbits in there and they aren’t out when I walk but the scents are there , then I do a bit of ball throwing on the grass and I walk back through the park where there are lots of other dog scents and they can also go in the river, one of mine particularly loves water .. mine are currently all fast asleep

I had a few of the puzzles, no idea where they are but I'll get some more. I'd forgotten about those! We've got licky and snuffle mats as well.

I'm so unwell at the minute I'm struggling with his usual long walks, we normally do miles and try and do a different walk every day for a month or so then repeat, but the car is off the road as well so I cant even do that. We are stuck with 3 walks about 1.5miles long, he needs more. And then Sunday he jumped over a stile and landed on barbed wire that someone has strung over the leg of the stile and nearly sliced his paw off. Always fun when your dog and the floor is covered in mud! I had to stick his foot in liquid mud to seal it so I could get him home. Hes been very, very lucky, it was a long thin and not very deep slit and its scabbed over but I'm having to be super careful about what surface he goes on for a week or so adding to my problems! The car should be fixed Friday which helps as he loves puppacinos and car rides to costa etc and trips to visit people and we do walks round the local town, and trips to the charity shop to get cuddly toys to rip up.

Hes being such a good boy, my other one would stay in bed for the rest of his life and couldn't care less. But seeing how much they enjoyed the boxes I'm going to do it every day. Its such an easy thing to do and they loved it.

Finish? As in obedience when dog recalls and then goes around to sit at side. Alternatively, middle? Dog goes around behind and comes to sit or stand between your legs.
