Okay so when it says section, what do I put? I'm under 25s & rider group 8. Never done anything.

And when it says Name of Competition do I just put the venue? And is 'Date' the date today or the date of the competition?

Anddd just being clear there's no way of entering online?

Ahh!

Also d'you think I should enter two prelims, or a prelim and a novice? He's definitely better at novice but we will be even more outclassed :p

Ok and breath :D

First up, section is restricted, open, training or HC.
If you are a full up member then restricted is the way to go, if you're on the asociate membership then it will be open. Training is to try the level above without gaining points (so in effect none competitive as you wouldn't feature in the results for rosettes or prize money).

Name is the venue, and I always put the date of the competition.

Check per venue for online entries, a lot are moving to HorseMonkey or have their own system on their websites.

Prelim and Novice if he's better at Novice, your current scores have been fab so you will not be outclassed!

Good luck and report back x x

Ooooh, Ester and AlexHyde have said it all, so I'm just chipping in to say YAY!!!

Definitely de Prelim and Novice! You're results do the talking and as above, you will not be outclassed.

Deep breath, you can do this, you know you can. Just remember, you have nothing to prove and nothing to lose, so just enjoy it :) xx

Good luck and defo do not think about the being outclassed - you will no doubt see lots of super looking horses in the warm up arena prancing their stuff but I can assure you from experience with our boy, do not worry about them. Our ex racehorse frequently beats them - even with me riding him with beat two very posh warmbloods out of a very posh lorry the other weekend! I did let the eeek look at the competition get to me the other day and it affected how I rode and what I do so remember to stay in your zone and enjoy it. Good luck.

As your questions have been answered, all I will say is Good Luck and Enjoy it!!

The world of affiliated is so much more friendly than unaffiliated! Just enjoy yourselves, that's the important part!

Don't judge yourself off others in the warm up.

Good luck! I'm doing my first BD prelim tomorrow and am terrified!! If you are a paid up BD member you can enter the restricted section, I'm only an associate so have entered the open. My venue use Horse Monkey so I did all mine online.

Badgworth on the 7th august! I'll let you know how I get on :) If I don't post on that afternoon I am probably being scraped off the floor by my mother. ;)

I'm all paid so have entered restricted. I am so bad at the admin side of things! :P But I'm going to enter as many as I can afford in August and just go for it. It's only fear of embarrassment that is holding me back, and you know what, at least it'll be character building if nothing else!

I'm away for three weeks in September so pony is either getting a holiday or being sent to my trainer, depending on his behaviour in August ;) I have explained this to him so hopefully the blackmail will work and he will keep the amateur dramatics for at home!

Well done on taking the plunge! I affiliated earlier this year and fulfilled a lifetime ambition, silly really but I've always wanted to do it. I've done a 6 month trial membership and have really enjoyed it. Once I got past the nightmare that is filling in the entry forms that is! As someone else said I have found everyone to be so much more friendly than unaffiliated competitions. I'm very ring rusty (last seriously competed about 10 years ago) and the horse is the first youngster I've had since it seems like forever. It's taken us a while to get our act together, and I still need to learn to relax in the arena to improve our marks but it's been a great learning experience. We've done some BD training, had some really complimentary and encouraging comments from all the judges, he's never been out of the ribbons and we even got some prize money the other day! I'm planning to renew my membership in September when the 6 months are up-it turns out I'll have to anyway because I got an email this morning from BD confirming that we've qualified for our local Area Festival! Not bad from a handful of outings!

Good luck, enjoy it and I look forward to hearing how you got on.

Errr so I went up just now to turn him out (apparently TBs melt in the rain, so he's been in all day) and he'd managed to pull off his shoe, which was put on TWO DAYS AGO, and had a fat, incredibly hot leg! In the stable!! Vet was in the area and came and had a poke and thought he'd just strained it, he's always crippled when he looses a shoe so couldn't really glean anything from the trot up. She's given him bute and anti-inflammatories and said to leave him out and see how he is on Tuesday when the shoe goes back on......

It's like they know......
