Not sure if the forum will let me call her a bitch?

Anyway! We have a 7 month old puppy never had a season and isn’t showing any signs yet but when I took her out I had 3 males constantly trying to mount her.
2 were entire 1 had been done. Mine was sitting down a lot and trying to move away she did eventually snap at 1 who would not back off.

when they were off in the field and started I would call her and she came running but they couldn’t recall their males.

Then last week walking them on a short lead we again had an off lead male come bounding over. She definitely isn’t in season. I know it’s possible anytime soon but she is showing no signs.

we were hoping to keep her entire, possibly breed if she works well but this has put me off because my dog is fully under control on a lead and she is being pestered not in season! What will happen when I need to exercise in season?! How do others deal with this?

You really can’t take a bitch in season out in public. It’s only for a couple of weeks though so you’ll need to find somewhere with no other dogs or keep her at home.

We have private land we can use when she’s in season. I just feel for her that when she isn’t they’re still on her all the time! And she doesn’t have the personality to tell them to back off!
Poor girl, maybe we’ll just have to stick to socialising with bitches only from now on.

Some bitches just attract males, whether they’re in season, notin season or even spayed. We have a spayed bitch locally that all the boys love, even those that have been neutere, she obviously gives off something that they find irresistible. I always put male dogs on a lead around her to stop them pestering her.

Is it worth trying bitch spray to put the other dogs off a bit? We only had to use it once or twice when my dog had an unexpectedly early season (5months) and it was effective. She was genuinely cross about being sprayed though so I guess it smells pretty nasty to all dogs!

A kick up the arse for the dogs? We always get at least one sex pest dog on every shoot, even though my bitches are neutered. Mine, too, are too polite, but I'm not.
I agree it's not easy when your bitch is running free, but it is nothing to do with sex hormones and everything to do with badly behaved dogs.

She needs to un-attract them and sharpish! Of course it’s tricky because she is the most beautiful Labrador in my unbiased opinion ;):p

I’ve never heard of this, maybe something to look at in the future!

We haven’t experienced a shoot with her yet, and our old lady definitely wasn’t to polite and regularly told the boys where to go!

I’d taken her here to be able to work her around dogs doing some desensitising, I did get hold of a couple by the collar and returned them to their owners. Didn’t even get a thankyou for returning their dog!

It was something I happened across in one of those pet supermarket type places and gave it a whirl. A fortuitous timing type of thing as she’d just come into season which we hadn’t planned for yet.
