Chloe is off to the vet in the morning for an op on her eyelids and Im starting to get a bit wound up, not good with eyes!! She was diagnosed with entropia at 4 months but my vet wanted to wait until she was a little bit bigger (now 7 months) before he did anything in case he either over or under compensated. Has anyone had a dog with this condition and what should I be expecting. I am having her speyed at the same time so she only has to have one GA and one Buster collar and have booked the next 2 weeks as holiday so she doesnt have to be left for more than an hour each day, when she is left she will be in her playpen so that she cant jump up or play with the older dogs. Just looking for a bit of reassurance really so any advice would be appreciated.

Knew of a dog which had this about 20 years ago or more - he had an op to cauterise the eyelashes so they didnt cause irritation to the eyes? As I remember (and it was a looooonnnnggg time ago!) he was fine afterwards, needed eyedrops but nothing too traumatic :)

Entropion, very commonly seen in shar-peis, the eye lid rolls/turns inwards causing the eye lashes to rub against the eye ball, making the eye very saw and susepitible to infection, some breeds are much more prone to other, buster collar will also stop her rubbing at her eye and you will most def be given eye drops to put in.

Thanks both. Have dropped her off this morning and popped into local pet store to stock up on supplies for the invalid:) Being so young she is quite lively so I have stocked up on assorted chewy things to try and occupy her whilst shes in her play pen. They had some Vetbed on offer so took advantage of that as well and also found a Buster collar in pale pink and with a soft lining round the neck, its a bit less deep than the ones you normally get from the vet so hopefully with her little head it will make negotiating the doorways a bit easier! Im sure she will be fine but any spare recover quickly vibes would be appreciated. x
