I'm not that keen on writing reports a lot of the time as I tend to be super honest and pour my heart out and lay myself out to dry, and then when I get no comments (Oh, the shame and indignity) or I get grief (I can do that myself) it feels much easier just to pop a post up on FB and take the easy way out.
Well, there seems to be a dearth of posts and I have both interesting things to write and imagery to illustrate AND there is motor racing on TV so I need to fill my ears with the tippy tapping of the keyboard to drown out the overexcited Antipodean automobile aficionados.

I wrote a few months ago that I was lucky enough to be able to bring my NZ TB Teak home to the UK with me when I moved back to London after a few years overseas. I will say this again, I am utterly blessed to have the mother that I do, as it is thanks to her that this was even possible and it was a wholly open offer- I was all set to try to sell the horse in NZ.
In March at the Kiwi HOY I asked IRT for quotes and information about air freight, and thus began the lengthy process of GRP. I can tell you now it is far easier to move cats than horses, and I may have changed my mind about being interested in equine bloodstock logistics, and would rather learn to disassemble circuitboards than work out Pegasus plotting.
We did run into some um, issues, mainly at the last minute. Teak was scheduled to fly the same day as us, and then a week out we still weren't on a plane nor had had any bloods or checks done and I was pretty much resigned to her being put on a boat. Thankfully, again at the last minute things started to resolve and she was then put on a plane two weeks after we arrived. This worked out great, as not only were we able to throw ourselves into two weeks of summertime pub sessions and getting stuck back in at home, as an apology Teak was able to travel first class with only one other horse in her pallet.

We came 4th!!
We went for a lesson with my old trainer, where Teak expressed hatred at the borrowed saddle and dolphined around the arena...like Ruby!

And she has been perfecting her lorry loading technique as my adorable friend lets me tag along with her in her box

Yesterday we went to Felbridge to jump the CR and the BN on a ticket and she was so good to have a clear and then 4 faults in the BN where I bulldozed her into a jump she was honestly trying to have a closer look at , and she probably would have happily jumped it from a deeper shot.
I would look too at a fence if I were a horse, Felbridge has the BEST ring decorations!!

SO PLEASED!! We have dressage this week too, and hopefully more lessons and just enjoying having her here. She has settled really well into the UK routine, and seems to be happy and relaxed at the yard. I am so proud to have her here too, she is such a nice person to have around.
Sorry there wasnt many words towards the end, I didnt realise the forum had lost the photo embedding tool and had to copy and paste in all the IMG codes, what a palaver!

Great to hear she's here and travelled so well. Were you hacking bareback? Brave! May see you at Felbridge - the one that gives me the colliwobbles is the jump with the skulls on!

You move halfway around the world and you still can't escape Bathurst!!

Go Teak! Sounds like she is really settling in over there. Though there is one thing seriously wrong with this post- more ridden pics plz! Billy needs an example of what a nice TB looks like

What a journey!! I love the customised passport!

There is a setting for posts somewhere which gives you the photo embedding box and the others. It's in the settings somewhere.

Yea am struggling with the photography thing! Will try and get more evidence as it's obviously a pretty important time for us both!

It was hilarious too as she didn't understand mud or puddles under saddle at first and group turnout, poor confused thing.

What an ace report. Thanks for writing, I really enjoyed reading! The concept of flying horses always fascinates me, glad to hear she must have taken it all in her stride :)

Superb report and what an adventure. I am getting stressed that our whole yard is moving 5 miles let alone how many miles you have moved.

Would love to hear more about the logistics and details of how the flight went etc (sad nerd that I am). You must be very relieved to have her home safe and sound.

Thank you all, I am very very pleased that she is here safe and sound and so thankful for the opportunity to have her here. I will make another topic on flying, Firewell helped me lots and Im sure she can help out if I miss things!!

She looks like she traveled really well. I am contemplating the reverse journey at the end of next year and it is seriously daunting. I may be picking your brains next year!
Look forward to many more reports and replies ;)

Hello Teak! How brave you were to bring her over, the stress of it all would have probably sent me loopy. Sounds like she has settled in well. Lets hope the miserable british weather doest have her asking for a return flight!

It was such a good time to travel her, in July. She had been clipped in April in the new Zealand autumn and so had a bit of a scuzzy coat. She arrived in that hot patch and promptly threw her winter coat out, then went a bit bald, then tried to grow the coat back and ended up looking very peaky! Put her on a week or two of Guinness and releve by saracen, then after burghley she had a course of protexin and started on equi jewel too. She's now got such a beautiful summer coat that she feels like silk on a tiger, all gloss and muscle.
Makes you wonder how much airfreight affects the comp and racing horses, or how they are micro managed to avoid any issues?
There's no real need to vaccinate in nz either so bar a tetanus jab, she came over needle free and so is on her vaccination catch up year too! Poor pincushion pony.
