I am needing a coat for my Sam Spanner as he is feeling the cold.

I am an Equafleece fan but not sure whether to go with the tankie or jumper. He is now kennelled with my other dog Jack but in the van at work he is getting cold so it will predominantly be for wearing in the van and possibly the kennel, hence I don't want straps :)

I would like opinions on which you have and how it fairs.

I already have 2 polo neck coats for Kc but they are too short for Sam they only cover half of his back  I also have a tankie but it is too small for all my dogs but Kc wore it once so couldn't return it :(

Thankies in advance :D

I have the Equafleece jumpers for my lurchers and my beddy, they are brilliant. But you can get made to measure. My little lurcher is long in the body, and deep in the chest but very narrow waisted, they made one that fits her perfectly. I decided on the jumpers as keeps the armpits clean and front legs.

I started off with the jumper but the legs keps freezing solid if we were out in the snow for long and more of a faff to get on and off (that says more about me than the jumper to be fair).

I gave the jumper to pals farm collie who is kennelled outside and he wears it in the really sub sub zero temps quite happily.

I've had the same tankie for 3 winters and think it's absolutely brilliant.
Beastie is with me in the Landy all day travelling between yards and as no front legs to restrict she curls up and moves around quite freely.

Dunno if that helps? :)

Thanks for reply :)

Sam will fit one off the shelf, he is just bigger than Kc ;)

I also like the neck on the jumpers but didn't know if the legs would be too long and get in the way a little :o

Thank you and very helpful :D

Did you find the legs on the jumper a little restrictive then? Or did your dog :p

Pixel has a tankie and a full jumper. Neither is restrictive as such it just depends on how warm it is as to which she wears. Or if she is drying off she has the jumper on simply because it covers more area to dry!

My girls have the jumpers and they are fab.

Personally I don't see the point of the tankey as I use mine for warmth not fashion.

I have an equafleece jumper with the back legs for Purdey my springer. It is brilliant and I would even say essential after we have been shooting or during the shoot lunch. She does really feel the cold and will shiver very easily but she is snuggly warm in her equafleece and never shivers even when she is quite wet. I don't find the back legs are too restrictive but then she doesn't move about too much with it as we mainly use it when she is resting in the car.

My 2 flatcoats have the jumpers - they have long feathers on their legs and the sleeves keep them dry and stop them collecting vegetation in them . It did take a little while to get them used to having them put on (taking off is easier) but is worth it :)
