Are they doing them or is the company which has taken over doing them??????????

Any info very welcome - ED have been very good in past

I think its the company thats doing them which will.

I'm really unsure what to do once mione comes up for renewal.

Equestrian Direct doesnt exist anymore, even though they are still advertising as equestrian direct to still get customers. They have been removed from the FSA register too.

Some people on here have still not had their claims paid for months and months, and i know i would not be taking a policy with them, when there a several other companies that do still offer a good service.

Are you in 'the know 'with company???????? OR have they completely disappeared???

I know i can go to new insurance company, but i hate having to sort this stuff out etc............. as i've had very good service in the pass.

But just want to know where i stand???

I've just had my renewal through, and it has just changed over to the new company. There's a bit of paperwork involved (don't know exactly what, my mum pays for our horse's insurance

)
I wanted to change but we've had so many claims that any new company is going to want to stick millions of exclusions on her and have vet reports and what-not...

No not in the know with the company but was insured with them and had a very tough time claiming. Hence why when my renewal came up i have swapped to a new company.

As far as i can see all they have done is changed the name of the company to equine insurance solutions, all the paperwork is the same, the telephone number is the same and so are the staff, but i have not seem one single advert for the new company which makes me extremely suspicious.

For the sake of a bit of paperwork, i was more than happy to change after the treatment i received during my claim.

I would be inclined to stay as i've had brilliant service from them, BUT after this last change, i'm very much on fence. As there's no point pay for insurance if they don't pay out!

the company has been taken over. all current and outstanding claims are going though a different company which at the moment are snowed under with the backlog left behind by previous underwritters. I am awaiting a large payment from them I can only hope they hurry up!

FWIW, I made big claims both before ED and AmTrust split, and after (but before this new change). Both times ED priovided a fantastic service.

Me too, they were fantastic when my lad broke his leg. They settled very quickly and sorted everything for me.

Just found this on the Daily Mail website!!

Mrs K. S. writes: Do you know what is going on at Equestrian Direct Insurance Services, please? Its website has disappeared, except for a front page that says nothing, and its telephone is not answered. If it has ceased trading, what will happen to outstanding claims?
The surviving web page says: 'We are the first company to offer horse and pony insurance over the internet for immediate quotes and cover.' However, Equestrian Direct's insurance licence was scrapped on May 6.
I asked the Financial Services Authority whether the firm withdrew its own authorisation or had had it taken away. I also asked what advice the FSA could offer to horse owners with outstanding claims or who fear existing policies may not be valid. The FSA failed to comment.
I can tell you though that the firm's accounts make unhappy reading, with net assets of minus £239,000, so it may well have been given little choice but to halt trading.

I've been with Ed for 4 years and have been waiting for 7 months for a claim to be paid. It was agreed before all this changeover happened but now I've had a letter from the "loss adjusters" - and now I understand the term as they have tried to adjust my loss - offering me 50%. How does that work when they had agreed to pay me? Am tempted to go to the Ombudsman (as it says in the back of my policy book) but as the company no longer exists I don't know whether they would be able to help. Also have had my renewal and its gone skyyyyyy high!!!!
