Posted this in soapbox but meant to post it here too. Looks like uni has finally addled my brain! So was reading on another forum and people posted who their equestrian idols were and I thought it'd be cool to have a thread like that here (it may have been done before, I'm not sure!). Mine are:

Beezie Madden
Anky van Grunsven
David and Karen O'Connor
Anne Kursinski
Phillip Dutton

I'm sure there are more, but these are the ones that really stick out for me!! I remember wanting to be a famous show-jumper after watching Beezie a few times!

Mine was Marion Mould on Stroller

Princess Anne!

Not so much just for her eventing but all the other stuff too, racing, RDA, etc and raising the profile of equestrian sports and equestrian issues.

I had her book, riding through my life as a teenager and found it really inspirational, she was far from a natural and (surprisingly) didn't have a never ending supply of amazing horses often competing on borrowed "rejects" as a teenager.

I still love to see her mounted at the trooping of the colour - she looks amazing in her military uniform riding sidesaddle.

John Whitaker
Mark Todd
Ginny Elliot
^^ all pretty self explanatory

I think I'll add on Rosie Thomas because of her round at Burghley when she was the first on course. That was pretty amazing.
