....as advertised in H&H.

anybody going? i'm off to one for certain; the lure of £9.99 Ariats is just too much!

ps. on the downside.....i know they SAY they will 'buy ur good quality second hand saddles' - but trust me, dont go there. we took my 4 year old Dever in last year, and he offered us £50!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i went to the one in Exeter on Sunday. I sold three of my saddles - all v old for £75 each - so I was happy, but if you have newer ones that you want £100s for, don't bother!

most of the stuff isn't that great - and there were no £9.99 Ariats to be seen and all the breeches were weird sizes/makes. I did buy a heavyweight, full neck rug which is 1600 denier, breathable, waterproof and with cooltex lining for £69 - tried it on my horse last night and it fits well and seems good quality, so hopefully will turn out to be a bargain!

Yes I agree, I went to one a couple of weeks ago and no £9.99 Ariats at all.

I did buy a couple of saddlecloths at £9.99 and some tendon boots but mostly it was like a rummage sale with pony size stuff and weird size adult boots. The rugs were probably the best value there but I didn't need any.

I went to the Exeter one as well! agreed most is a load of cr*p. There were never going to be any adult sized £9.99 ariats. Some kids ones maybe with 2 pairs per venue but rest are more though still discounted to normal.

I came away with a very nice leather girth. One of the ergonomically designed ones which give the shoulders/elbows more room. Very soft leather and loks very good quality although not a name I knew. It was £40 but I thought it was worth it. They had stud girths by the same people for £69 i think, and those were rather nice I thought as well.

Some nice grackle bridles (again same make) for £69 and the standard stuff they always have (numnahs/travel boots/rugs etc).

If you go early expect to be squashed, leave it a couple of hours and will be far quieter but you risk your size not being available. I was lucky with the girth as was last one in the size and colour I wanted!

Oh and the jodhs are Kids sizes (note the 16yo size 176 is equivelent to a large size 8 to a small size 10

) and some mens. No Ladies sizes at all in the eurostar ones.

I went to the Exeter one and got all excited seeing Ariat boots for £19.99 - but they were all size 4 and under so no good for me!

Most of the stuff is Holmestead which seems to be theit own brand or something as literally everything is Holmestead... No rugs apart from own brand ones which was frustrating as I went looking to buy half a dozen or so for the broodies. No sign of Stubben bridles that I could see, which was the other thing I was after! I did get 2 cheap headcollars though for £1.99 each!

Yes Holmstead are also the clearance company so a lot of stuff is their own.

Their rugs though are surprisingly good. I have two stable rugs which originally cost me £30 and £20 about 4 years ago. One I use daily through the winter and Dan does his best to wreck it but it is repair free and comes up like new each time it comes back from cleaners! The other is also literally like new but admittedly gets used less as duvet for the freezing cold weather only!

No stubben bridles this time I noted as well but seems to change year to year! I bought both my stubbens from them in previous years

Went to the one at Lingfield racecourse a while ago.

All utter crap. Think I bought a couple of rug hooks and that was it.

Met loads of people coming out empty handed so had some idea of what it was going to be like before I went in!

ITs the same old crap that they bring!

1 pair of ariats at 9.99 size zero

1 pair of caldene johds 1.99 size zero!

They NEVER give receipts either!!!!!!

You are are ok though if you want to pay full price though for all the rest of the stuff!!!
